A brothel manager has shared some of the strangest and most surprising experiences she’s encountered while working in the adult industry, including a client who paid a huge amount of money simply to fix a sink.
Catherine De Noire, 32, began working in the sex industry around a decade ago before eventually becoming the manager of a brothel. Alongside running the business, she also posts online about what life behind the scenes is really like.
During a recent interview with the Tea at Four podcast, Catherine was asked about the “wildest request” she had ever seen from a customer.
She recalled one particularly bizarre role-play involving a man pretending to be a plumber, without anything sexual taking place.
“One client came in, and he wanted to do a plumber role play,” she explained.
Describing the unusual booking, she said: “The guy just walks in, and he wanted to be a plumber. So, he took like a uniform… and he paid a lot of money just to repair the sink, to fix the toilet.”
When the hosts questioned whether there was any sexual element involved, Catherine clarified: “Not in a sexual way. He just… didn’t do anything sexual.”
Instead, the worker pretended to have plumbing problems while the client spent hours carrying out repairs. “He just fixed the sink for several hours and then he just left and he was like, ‘This was the best.’”
The conversation then turned to the biggest booking she had ever witnessed financially. Catherine revealed: “I think the most money that one girl earned during the night was like €30,000.”
She admitted that such earnings are rare, adding: “But that doesn’t happen too often… This was like an exception.”
Despite the huge payday, she said the worker returned the very next day. “I was like, ‘You should at least take some free day,’” Catherine recalled. “She’s like, ‘No, I want to be here. Maybe it’s going to be repeating again.’”
According to Catherine, the booking itself was surprisingly ordinary. “It wasn’t anything extreme. He just had a lot of money, and he was willing to share.”
Asked what behavior gets clients instantly banned, she replied simply: “Being disrespectful.”
She also explained that people are often surprised by how “normal” the atmosphere inside a brothel can feel.
“I think how normal it can be,” she said when asked what would shock outsiders most.
Catherine revealed that women and couples also visit regularly, although she admitted couples can sometimes lead to awkward situations.
“Usually they’re like, ‘Okay, we were drinking, and we kind of had this idea that it’s going to be fun to go to the brothel together and explore,’” she explained.
However, she said many arrive without discussing boundaries beforehand, which can quickly create tension. “The guy is usually the one that jumps into the action and the girl is sitting there and she’s like, ‘Oh my god.’”
She added: “When I see a couple coming in, I know somebody’s going to cry.”
Still, Catherine believes exploring fantasies with professionals can be positive — as long as communication happens first. “I think it’s really good to do this with a professional,” she said, before adding: “But I also think it’s good to discuss it before.”
