A video reportedly showing an angry crowd in Ireland harassing the car of a Russian ambassador has gone viral on social media.

As reported by The Independent, on Friday, a crowd of demonstrators in the town of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown in Dublin had gathered near the Russian embassy to protest the ongoing deadly invasion of Ukraine, which was launched by sea, land, and air in on Thursday morning.

People in the crowd can be seen holding Ukrainian flags and holding handmade signs in support of Ukraine.

In one video, shared to Twitter by policy lecturer and activist Dr. Cara Augustenborg, the crowd can be seen mobbing a car that was reportedly carrying Russian ambassador Yuri Filatov.

You can watch the video below:

The crowd can be heard booing and shouting phrases such as "Go home" and "Putin is a liar".

Other members of the demonstration can be seen holding signs up against the car window, and one even drapes the Ukrainian flag over the vehicle.

As the video continues, tensions escalate, and people can be seen kicking and throwing objects at the car.

Eventually, with the assistance of police officers, the car is eventually able to speed away.

In a thread shared by Dr. Augustenborg, she writes in a series of tweets: "Outside @EmbassyofRussia #Dublin now, where crowd shouts 'Putin is a liar' & 'Go away from Ukraine' #UkraineRussia #UkraineInvasion".

Another adds: "Tensions high as @EmbassyofRussia tries to enter residence during #Ukraine #UkraineRussia #UkraineInvasion protest".

Per The Times, speakers at the demonstrations said that Filatov should be expelled from Ireland and that neutrality on the issue could not be accepted.

"Irish fought for independence, they understood. You can not claim neutrality," one person said.

Filatov has been the Russian Ambassador to Ireland since 2017.

Overnight, CNN has reported that explosions and gunfire have continued to be heard throughout the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.

In a national address on Friday night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed that the people of Ukraine would stay and fight for their country. He also said: "I will stay in the capital. My family is also in Ukraine."

Zelensky also accused Russia of targeting civilian infrastructure.

The US, EU nations, and Canada have all announced sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
