Following the heated meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, footage of Ukraine's ambassador to the US has gone viral.
If you've somehow dodged the news of the last 24 hours, Zelenskyy left the White House early after discussions between the two leaders descended into chaos.
At the height of the argument, Trump admonished Zelenskyy for interrupting him, stating: "What you're doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country that's backed you far more than a lot of people say they should."
He continued his scathing remarks, pressing Zelenskyy on Ukraine’s dire situation: "You have to be thankful. You don't have the cards. You're buried there. Your people are dying. You're running low on soldiers.
"Listen, you're running low on soldiers. It would be a damn good thing... Then you tell us, I don't want a ceasefire. I don't want to ceasefire. I want to go and I want this."
Trump then issued an ultimatum: "You're either gonna make a deal or we're out. And if we're out, you'll fight it out."
Vice President Vance also criticized Zelenskyy’s conduct, stating: "Mr. President, Mr. President, with respect. I think it's disrespectful for you to come to the Oval Office to try to litigate this in front of the American media."
Following the explosive meeting, Trump took to his Truth Social platform, declaring that Zelensky was "not ready for Peace if America is involved" because he believes that U.S. support gives him an advantage in negotiations.
Trump characterized the discussion as “very meaningful,” stating: "Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure."
He added: "I don’t want advantage, I want peace. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace."
Following the meeting, much fo the fallout has been a hot topic on social media - including the live reaction of Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova
Caught on camera, Markarova was seen watching on in horror before holding her head in her hand, seemingly exasperated by what was unfolding in front of her.
Opinions on the meeting and Markarova's reaction differ, with some being pro-Trump and others being pro-Zelenskyy.
One person wrote on X: "I feel for Ukraine, such disrespect and bullying behavior from the US. Impressive that President Zelensky managed to stay so calm."
A second said: "I can’t believe this is happening but glad it’s in front of the world so people see what a disaster Trump is."
Third responded to the video, writing: "Please know this conversation is completely disgusting to a vast number of Americans. It is not representative of the whole of our Nation, and may break us. Many hearts here are breaking here right now. [Trump] is no longer the leader of the free world. I am praying someone else will step up.
"I am ashamed of our country and I'm sorry. I pray that you will find the support you need amongst rational leaders. Ours are currently insane."
However, a supporter of Trump wrote that Zelenskyy "won’t last a week" without the POTUS' support. "It’s a great day for Ukraine. They should all thank Donald Trump," they added.
Another critic tweeted: "Just watched her president p**s away a chance at peace. She knows it."
It's quite a polarising issue, but it's hard to imagine the stress levels of Markarova right now.
