Denmark's Christian Eriksen has collapsed on the pitch during the nation's clash with Finland in the Euro 2020 tournament.

Eriksen fell forward and remained motionless on the pitch as teammate Thomas Delaney took a throw-in. The game is taking place at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, with the scary incident occurring towards the end of the first half of the game, the Daily Mail reports.

Players and referee Anthony Taylor quickly signaled for medical personnel, who rushed over to attend to the 29-year-old midfielder.

Eriksen's teammates could be seen with tears in their eyes as medical staff performed CPR. They were soon joined by Eriksen's wife, who was consoled by Kasper Schmeichel.

A screen was then placed around Eriksen and his teammates.

Following the scary scenes, fans quickly took to social media to send their thoughts and best wishes to the Inter Milan player:

The Independent reports that players from both teams returned to the dressing rooms as medical attention continued.

UEFA has since confirmed that the game has been "suspended", explaining in a tweet: "The UEFA EURO 2020 match in Copenhagen has been suspended due to a medical emergency."

In a second tweet, tournament officials said: "Following the medical emergency involving Denmark's player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.

"The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilized."

Today (June 12) marks the second day of the UEFA championship.

Our thoughts go out to Eriksen, his family, friends, teammates, and fans.
