Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's reported return to the UK has become the target of a brutal Saturday Night Live UK skit, with the comedy show joking that the couple have already burned through their Netflix fortune.
The second season of Saturday Night Live UK opened with a spoof royal reunion, seeing actors Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye portray Harry and Meghan as they arrive at Balmoral Castle to visit King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Harry, played by Shep, greets his father with a dramatic declaration: “Daddy, I’m home.”
But rather than receiving a warm welcome, King Charles, played by Larry Dean, immediately appears suspicious about the reason behind his son's return.
“Don’t tell me you’ve spent all your Netflix money already,” the King asks.
Harry responds: “It was $60 million. How long was it meant to last?”
The joke refers to the couple's lucrative Netflix deal, which they signed after stepping back from their positions as working royals and relocating to California.
The sketch then turns its attention to Meghan, with Queen Camilla, played by Emma Sidi, delivering a pointed remark: “Hello, sweet Harry,” Camilla says, before adding, “And beautiful Meghan, as brown as ever.”
The line appeared to reference the couple's controversial 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which Meghan and Harry discussed an alleged conversation within the royal family about how dark their son Archie's skin might be.
The couple did not identify the royal involved, before Prince William subsequently stepped in, saying the family was “very much not a racist family”, while the late Queen Elizabeth II said the “issues raised, particularly that of race, [were] concerning.”
The parody then gives Meghan, portrayed by Bamgboye, her own opportunity to fire back: “Hey Step Queen. I brought you a gift. It’s ice. I made it myself. I can give you the recipe. I’m kind of a wiz in the kitchen,” she jokes.
Harry immediately adds: “It’s true. She hires the best cooks.”
The gag appears to poke fun at Meghan's move into lifestyle content, including her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham then enters the fictional scene, played by George Fouracres.
“Harry, Meghan, I’m here to tell you that just because you’re normal folk doesn’t mean your life has to be crap. That is the Burnham promise,” he says.
The sketch comes shortly after reports that Harry and Meghan are planning to spend more time in the UK, having famously stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 before moving to the US.
They are reportedly planning to enrol their children, Archie and Lilibet, at a prestigious British school.
While some speculation has suggested finances could be behind the move, other reports have claimed the couple's main motivation is to allow their children to develop a closer relationship with Harry's family, with King Charles’ health also a particular concern, according to reports.
After leaving the UK, Harry and Meghan signed a major multi-year agreement with Netflix through their Archewell Productions company, where their projects included the documentary series Harry & Meghan, among other productions.
The original five-year deal expired in September 2025, with Netflix choosing not to renew it in its previous form. However, the couple subsequently secured a new “multi-year, first-look” arrangement with the streaming giant.
Unlike their original agreement, the new deal reportedly gives Netflix the first opportunity to consider projects proposed by Archewell Productions rather than guaranteeing the same level of commitment.
An insider previously described the new arrangement as “not much”.
“It’s no risk for Netflix but saves them both reputationally,” the source claimed..
A representative for Harry and Meghan did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the sketch.
