Donald Trump has said that he was the victim of a ‘triple sabotage’ during his visit to the United Nations

Trump delivered one of his typically scattergun speeches in front of the dignitaries of the world this week, taking aim at everyone from the Mayor of London to the tech team.

Now, he has made further claims about his visit to the New York-based organization, and he’s clearly not happy.

Donald Trump’s speech to the United Nations made headlines

The problems started for Trump as soon as he walked into the building.

The escalator that he and his wife Melania were travelling on failed while they were standing on it

Things got worse for the President as his teleprompter then failed as he tried to deliver his speech.

That meant that he had to deliver it off the top of his head, using only the notes in front of him.

It has since been claimed - by White House officials, no less - that there was a conspiracy to make Trump look bad, although nothing has yet been proven.

Never one to take a joke at his expense lightly, Trump has now weighed in on the matter himself.

Trump claims that he was the victim of a ‘triple sabotage’

We’ve already covered the first two parts of Trump’s unfortunate day at the United Nations, but there is another ‘sinister’ element that he believes was set up to make him look stupid in front of the world.

Taking to his own social media platform Truth Social, Trump vented his anger at the way things shook down for him.

“First, the escalator going up to the Main Speaking Floor came to a screeching halt. It stopped on a dime. It’s amazing that Melania and I didn’t fall forward onto the sharp edges of these steel steps, face-first,” he said.

“Then, as I stood before a Television crowd of millions of people all over the World, and important Leaders in the Hall, my teleprompter didn’t work. It was stone cold dark.”

He then claimed that the ‘sound was off’ in the hall so that nobody could hear him.

“World Leaders, unless they used the interpreters’ earpieces, couldn’t hear a thing,” Trump ranted.

“The first person I saw at the conclusion of the speech was Melania, who was sitting right up front. I said, “How did I do?” And she said, “I couldn’t hear a word you said.”

He alleged: “This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN.

“They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”

Anyone who did hear Trump’s speech will be in no two minds about how he feels about the UN.

During his hour long talk he hit out at the organization on a number of occasions, as well as making claims about climate change and even the state of the UK capital London.

Whether or not people heard him in the room at the time, they certainly heard his words around the world in the news afterwards.

The United Nations has responded

The UN has since addressed some of the allegations levelled by Trump.

It said that the escalator issues were likely because a White House videographer ‘accidentally triggered a safety mechanism’.

Spokesperson Stéphane Dujardin confirmed that a ‘thorough investigation’ into all three incidents would be held.
