The truth has been revealed about a glamorous social media star who has attracted tens of thousands of followers, with the ‘woman’ being exposed as something very different from what she has claimed since setting up her account.
Bindi Raye, an alleged 20-year-old Australian influencer, has built up a sizeable online following by sharing photos of her boujee life, including nights out, gym selfies and pictures of herself wearing a high-visibility jacket while apparently working a regular job.
Her Instagram account has attracted more than 80,000 followers, with posts regularly receiving thousands of likes and comments from admirers, but there is one major catch… Bindi Raye does not actually exist.
The influencer is an AI-generated creation operating as a fictional online persona, and a closer look at her photos reveals clear signs that she isn't real.
Under closer inspection, it is evident that Bindi's facial structure appears to change between different photographs, while her skin consistently has the unnaturally smooth and flawless appearance often associated with AI-generated imagery.
There are also more obvious clues hidden within some of the photographs, with one image in particular appearing to show a poster in the background containing a bizarre collection of letters and numbers which do not form recognizable words or appear to belong to any known language.
A link included on the apparently fraudulent influencer’s page directs followers towards an adult subscription platform, apparently providing a way for those behind the persona to monetize their creation.
However, the final, most telling giveaway is what is buried in the small print on the site, and it is a serious admission, with the account described as being "AI-generated".
Despite speculation surrounding Bindi's authenticity, those behind the account appear to have continued maintaining the illusion that she is a real person, having even claimed in a recent Instagram post, "One thing I’ve learned this week: don’t believe everything you hear".
The comments underneath, meanwhile, suggest that at least some followers remain convinced they are interacting with a real woman.
One user wrote: "Hi beautiful. Love the pictures and you".
Another simply commented: " damn gorgeous lady".
As AI becomes increasingly sophisticated, it may not just be catfishing humans we have to be wary of, but AI dressed as big names on social media.
