San Antonio Zoo will let those who aren't over their ex-partner get their revenge in a unique way - by naming a cockroach after them and then feeding it to an animal.

Breakups are tough, right? Planning an entire future with someone and then watching it come down in flames can be a somewhat traumatic experience.

Parting ways can be amicable, perhaps due to a case of poor timing or just growing apart. But occasionally, someone can do something to break all trust and the relationship ends with a screaming match and hitting the block button on every form of social media.

Then begins the long process of healing where the four stages of grief can really take their toll. But there are things that can ease the pain, and perhaps naming a cockroach after the ex-partner can be a good way of feeling better.

San Antonio Zoo offers this opportunity on Valentine's Day - the day when being surrounded by love and happy couples can be excruciatingly painful for those not content with their own love life.

As stated on the zoo's website, the annual "Cry Me A Cockroach" fundraiser raises funds to "support the zoo’s vision of securing a future for wildlife in Texas and around the world."

Naming a cockroach costs $10 but for those who are repulsed by bugs, there is an option to name a rodent for $25 or a vegetable for $5.

Everyone who donates receives a digital Valentine's Day card, plus an option to send a digital card to an ex-partner informing them they have a cockroach named after them and they are soon to be fed to an animal.

In case anyone seriously hates their ex, there is also a $150 option where a video of the cockroach, rodent, or veggie being devoured by the animal will be sent to the recipient.

The zoo has revealed that the most popular names last year were Jacob and Sarah, and this year is expected to be even bigger.

As reported by CNN, over 8000 donations were made last year from over 30 countries around the world.

"Right now, we are on track to break last year's record, with ‘Zach,’ ‘Ray’ and ‘Adam’ being the most submitted ex-names so far," Cyle Perez, the zoo’s director of public relations, told the outlet.

So if February 14 seems like too much to stomach, let an animal stomach a cockroach named after your ex instead.
