A tech company is due to launch a new line of human-looking robots, but they want them to have a friendly demeanor.
They also don't want them to be computer-generated either. Instead, they're looking for real-life humans to lend their faces to their upcoming robots.
And the best is yet to come, because Promo-Bot is offering to pay $200,000 (£150,000) for the perfect someone to hand over the rights to their features.
Per the Promo-Bot website, they are on the lookout for a "kind and friendly" appearance, and are open to applications from people of all ethnicities and gender. The one catch is that you need to be over 25 years of age.
They're intending to launch their human-esque robots in hotels, shopping centers, and airports in North America and the Middle East from 2023.
"Our company is developing technologies in the field of facial recognition, as well speech, autonomous navigation, artificial intelligence and other areas of robotics," a statement on their website reads.
"Since 2019, we have been actively manufacturing and supplying humanoid robots to the market. Our new clients want to launch a large-scale project, and as for this, they need to license a new robot appearance to avoid legal delays.
"We have been actively building and supplying humanoid robots to the market. Our new clients want to launch a large-scale project. The condition regarding appearance is set due to the project specifics as the robot will function as a consultant within crowded places. Gender and age do not matter.''
So, what happens once you're the special someone that gets selected? Well, a 3D model of your face and body is taken to be used for the robot's external features. You will then need to dictate at least 100 hours of special material in order to copy your voice. This will be used by the machine to communicate with customers.
You will also be required to sign a license agreement, which allows the use of your appearance for an unlimited period of time, so there's no going back, folks! It could potentially go on forever!
So, if you're interested, head over to Promo-Bot's website to register your interest — you may just be chosen to be immortalized in robot form...
