The feud between
Taylor Swift and the celebrity power couple of Kanye West and
Kim Kardashian has had its ups and downs, but it doesn't look like it has cooled down quite yet.
It all started back in 2009 when
Kanye West created one of the most awkward and iconic moments in modern music by interrupting
Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video. At the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye stormed the stage and took to the microphone to tell the crowd that Beyonce was more deserving of the prize, uttering the now-infamous phrase "Imma let you finish", prompting internet memes for years since.

The next big hit to their relationship was in Kanye's song Famous, which included the lyrics "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why, I made that b**** famous". Swift criticised the song on its release but was eventually taken to task by Kardashian, who shared a video of the pop star discussing the lyrics with her husband, along with the snake emoji.
Yesterday, Kardashian posted a photo on Instagram that many have taken to be the reality star throwing shade at Swift. The photo depicted Kardashian taking a photo at the 2016 exhibit that featured wax figures of various naked people, including
Kanye West and Taylor Swift. Captioning the photo with "Famous", many of Swift's fans suspected this was a dig at their idol, and all took to the comment section to post rat emojis - with some making explicit that "snakes eat rats".

The symbol of the snake has come up a number of times with this feud, as Kardashian apparently made use of Instagram's feature to block certain emojis and words to block the snake emoji. Later on, Swift reclaimed the snaked as a symbol for her latest album, Reputation.
Soon after the original Instagram post by Kim Kardashian, Swift posted a photo of herself, along with the caption "I never trust a narcissist but they love me", which her hardcore fans are taking as a typically indirect response to the low-key shade thrown her way the day before. The image is from a new photo shoot with Vogue, and the line is from a song called I Did Something Bad.

Many songs on Taylor Swift's latest album, including the first single Look What You Made Me Do, apparently alludes to Swift's feelings towards Kardashian and West. On the song, This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”, she sang: “It was so nice being friends again / There I was giving you a second chance / But you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand”.
Fans of Swift interpreted this as a dig against Kardashian, while the lyrics "I don't like your little games/ Don't like your tilted stage/ The role you made me play/ Of the fool/ No, I don't like you" are suspected of referencing Kanye, who used a tilting stage during his Saint Pablo tour in 2016.
