An initial post-mortem has taken place on the body of Michael Mosley after the TV doctor sadly died on a Greek island.

As previously reported, Mosley, a respected health expert, vanished without a trace on Wednesday, sparking a massive search effort involving helicopters, divers, dogs, and drones.

The 67-year-old was last seen on surveillance footage leaving the village of Pedi on the Greek island of Symi and heading towards a rocky path, setting off a frantic search that would ultimately end in heartbreak.

A local Greek man, part of a camera crew, was the first to stumble upon Mosley's body, marking the end of a five-day search operation that gripped both local and international communities.

The body was discovered near a perilous cave complex ominously dubbed "The Abyss" by locals, alongside an umbrella.

As reported by the BBC, an initial post-mortem has revealed that he passed away due to natural causes.

According to Konstantia Dimoglidou, a spokesperson for the police, the preliminary examination disclosed no signs of injuries that could have led to his death.

Dr. Mosley's wife, Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley, expressed solace in the knowledge that he was found almost reaching his destination.

"He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route, and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team," Dr. Bailey Mosley remarked, paying homage to her beloved husband's adventurous spirit.

Tributes have poured in for the beloved TV doctor from his friends and colleagues.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver wrote: "What a wonderfully sweet, kind and gentle man he was. He did such a lot of good for public health with his TV shows and research. He was a curious investigator, producer and presenter and often changed the conversation around many public health issues for the better."

Author and former doctor Adam Kay tweeted: "Desperately sad news about Michael Mosley. My thoughts with his family - may his memory be a blessing."

TV presenter Anthea Turner wrote: "I know you’ve been following Dr Michael Mosley’s story I’ve been glued to every update but this was the tragic news we all feared. With so much passion and a cheeky smile on his face he spent his life encouraging us all to make healthy choices.

"He wanted everyone to live a longer, better, more fulfilled life. His family will be broken, thinking of them and his friends on Symi."

Our thoughts are with Mosley's loved ones during this difficult time.
