The heartbroken girlfriend of a British daredevil who tragically died after falling from Spain's highest bridge has revealed her late partner's last words.

Lewis Stevenson, fell from the 630ft Castilla-La Mancha bridge in Talavera de la Reina, 75 miles southwest of Madrid, on Sunday (October 13).

According to local authorities, the 26-year-old was attempting to scale the cable-stayed bridge, despite the area being "prohibited" per Daily Mail.

Tragically, the influencer lost his grip and died instantly on impact. He was not wearing a safety harness, according to The Sun.

Lewis's grandfather, Clifford Stevenson, 70, confirmed that his grandson had died in an emotional tribute statement.

“We all tried to talk him out of it. We were always trying to talk him out of doing things but that was the way he was,” he said. “He loved doing it, always went out there believing he’d be all right. He did what he did for his own pleasure. He did not get any money for it, he was an adventurer.”

The late content creator traveled the world climbing skyscrapers and other tall structures.

His distraught girlfriend, Savannah, told the Daily Mail that her boyfriend had sent her a heartbreaking text message as he set off to climb the bridge with another British daredevil.

"We spoke at half eleven and the last thing he said to me was, 'Good night, I love you,'" she told the outlet. "He messaged me at half five to say, 'Good morning' with three kisses. I didn't see it until quarter to eight."

The 25-year-old office worker believes Lewis could have lost his grip after passing out less than halfway up the bridge. "He didn't just fall. He lost consciousness because he wasn't feeling well," she said. "His friend who he was with sent me over his police statement.

"He told his friend he wasn't feeling well and he said, 'Shall we go back down?' Lewis said, 'Give me a minute', and that's when he lost consciousness and slipped," she added.

Savannah suspects that Lewis didn't eat before the climb "because he wouldn't care if he was hungry or thirsty, he'd do something," adding: "But I don't know, as long as I've known him he has never lost consciousness or passed out. I don't know what happened, but that is what his friend told me."

The 25-year-old revealed that her late partner had been going on death-defying adventures for years.

"He has been doing this sort of thing for years. We've known each other 10 years and he's been doing it for at least five of those years," she said. "Every time he went away I would tell him to be careful.

"As much as it worries me, I don't look into things because I worry enough as it is and I just let him do his thing and generally he just comes back. This weekend he didn't," she concluded.

The devastating fall was witnessed by a passing motorist, who immediately notified the police. Authorities arrived at the scene to find the unnamed surviving companion visibly shaken and "unable to speak at the time," per reports.

A source revealed to The Sun that Lewis's friend will not face criminal charges, adding: "It’s up to the local town hall to decide if he’ll face any penalties for doing something illegal."

Investigators are considering whether the rainy weather contributed to the accident by making the bridge’s surfaces more slippery.

Our thoughts continue to be with Stevenson's family and friends at this time.
