A teenager tragically died in a freak accident after stepping outside her home in her bare feet.

Olivia Bright, 17, was reportedly electrocuted after she stepped into a camper near her family's East Toledo home on Sunday (August 18), as reported by Daily Mail.

The 17-year-old had burns on her right hand while in cardiac arrest. She was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to WTOL, firefighters have blamed the faulty wiring in an empty lot outside her residence as well as the recent storm that soaked the property.

While investigations are still ongoing, it's suggested that the tragedy - which unfolded around 9PM - occurred because Olivia stepped in a live puddle barefoot.

However, the late girl's mom, Kimberly Bright, has her doubts as she revealed to 13 ABC: "All I know is that Toledo Edison cleared my power, they cleared my electrical."

She also stated that the authorities did not find any charring on the door of the camper, which was unplugged.

The bereaved family said they will check in with the coroner for an official cause of death. "All I want to know is how my daughter passed - that's the answers I want," the mom added.

Olivia's loved ones will remember her as "a bit of a handful, but a good kid," adding that she was outspoken, and loved music and Carrie Underwood.

While the family waits for answers from the coroner, they have created a GoFundMe for a "proper" funeral and cremation service.

The page highlights that the teen died five years after her brother Brandon passed away at age 11 due to brain cancer.

"It's hard," Kimberly said of her daughter and son's passing. "Five-and-a-half years ago, I buried my son Brandon. He was the age 11. He died of glioblastoma. Now I have to go and make arrangements for my daughter Olivia."

The teen's heartbroken mom said she finds solace in her other children and grandchildren to get her through this devastating time.

She also shared a poignant reminder to other parents to cherish their children, warning that life can change instantly.

"All I'm saying is treasure your children while they're here... Be there for your kids, because they could be here today and gone tomorrow, like mine was, and she was only 17," she said.

The family will be hosting a candlelit vigil for their loved one on Wednesday at 821 Oak Street in Toledo at 9:40PM.

Our thoughts are with Olivia's family and friends at this time.
