Prepare to have your innocent childhood memories shattered... Remember those iconic dance moves from the 'Macarena'? The internet is buzzing after a TikTok revelation exposed the surprisingly explicit lyrics behind the iconic tune by Los Del Río.
So much so, it has left people rethinking their years of dancing to this seemingly innocent song at school parties and family events.
A trip down memory lane usually involves vibing to timeless jams like 'YMCA' and the 'Ketchup Song'. Whether it's a distant sugar-fueled school party or a family wedding, the dance moves are hardwired into our muscle memory.
But how closely did we listen to those lyrics? Probably not closely enough.
Jake Randall on TikTok recently shone a spotlight on the beloved track, dissecting its less-than-innocent lyrics - and because many of us don't speak Spanish, the actual meaning of the song often flew right over our heads.
However, the verses that are in English spell it out quite clearly: "When I dance, they call me Macarena, and the boys, they say que soy buena, they all want me, they can't have me, so they all come and dance beside me, move with me, chant with me, and if you're good, I'll take you home with me," the song goes.
Not exactly the material for your eight-year-old's dance-off, is it?
In his TikTok, Jake Randall emphasized the lyrics, "Now, come on, what was I supposed to do? He was out of town and his two friends were so fine." It turns out we may have been grooving to a song about cheating and sexual adventures.
To top it off, the famous chorus, predominantly in Spanish, basically speaks about wanting to do "good things" to your body and give your body "joy."
The TikTok reveal has sparked a flurry of surprised reactions online. One stunned viewer shared: "This was playing at my sports day at school and everyone was dancing to it." Another commenter chimed in with, "The fact when I was 5 they played this song in school," and a third lamented, "My whole life was a lie."
The virality of this X-rated revelation has not only shattered our innocent perceptions but also sparked intense conversations about the importance of understanding the lyrics behind our favorite jams.
So the next time 'Macarena' starts playing at a family gathering, you might just find yourself sitting this one out - or maybe not!

Ready to have your childhood ruined? Because the meaning behind the Macarena is actually pretty X-rated.
I imagine that many of us really let loose in our youth, popping some moves to certified bangers like YMCA and the Ketchup song.
Sugar-fuelled school parties might be a distant memory, but if any of the classic songs from back in the day come on it's like we're transported back in time because those dance moves are still stored in our brain somewhere.
But how much do we know about the songs that we got down to? As kids, we probably weren't too attentive to the definition of the lyrics but... maybe we should have been.
One TikTok has shed light onto the old favorite tune - Macarena.
The song, by Los Del Río, has some pretty iconic dance moves that you're probably doing in your head right now as you hum the song.
A lot of the lyrics are in Spanish so kids, or any non-Spanish speaker, probably don't know what they're saying - but the verses happen to be in English and they're pretty wild.
For example - "When I dance, they call me Macarena, and the boys, they say que soy buena, they all want me, they can't have me, so they all come and dance beside me, move with me, chant with me, and if you're good, I'll take you home with me."
Not exactly something that you'd imagine an eight-year-old to be dancing to, right?
During the TikTok, Jake Randall focuses on a small section of the song that reads "Now, come on, what was I supposed to do?He was out of town and his two friends were so fine."
Either we're all very dirty-minded and this is completely innocent, or our fears are true and as kids, we were dancing to sexual songs about cheating.
The famous chorus, which is all in Spanish, roughly translates to wanting to do "good things" to your body, and to give your body "joy".
Safe to say, people were shocked at this revelation, as one person said: "This was playing at my sports day at school and everyone was dancing to it."
A second person said: "The fact when I was 5 they played this song in school," and a third added: "My whole life was a lie."
Nothing can ever just be sweet and innocent, can it?

A man has taken to social media to reveal the true meaning of the lyrics behind the hit 90s track 'Macarena.'
The revelation was made after a TikTok user going by the handle @peakay81 posted a video on the platform which he captioned:
"Tell me a song that you listened to when you were younger and you grew up and realized it's really dirty."
In the video in question, @peakay81 spoke about the classic Spanish dance song 'Macarena', written by Los del Río and later remixed by The Bayside Boys, which boasts some surprisingly scandalous lyrics.
The TikTok user stated that the song is really about "a woman whose boyfriend is about to join the army.
"She, when he’s away, has a threesome with his two best mates. No joke, Google it, what the f***?"
Indeed, according to LyricsTranslate, the song does feature a verse where a woman (presumably the eponymous Macarena herself) states:
Take a look at the music video for the original remix in the video below:"But don't you worry about my boyfriend,
He's a boy whose name is Vitorino.
I don't want him,
Couldn't stand him,
He was no good so I...Now, come on, what was I supposed to do?
He was out of town and his two friends were so fine."
Suffice it to say, a number of other TikTok were shocked by the song's x-rated content, and many took to the comments of @peakay81's to lambast him for "ruining" the track for them.
For instance, one person wrote: "Spanish is my native language and I have to Google this, because I didn't know about that."
Another commented: "I'm just gonna scroll before my childhood is ruined."
A third wrote: "You ruined my 22 years of fun and innocence."
Meanwhile, someone else stated: "never knew until today, looking up lyrics right now."
Another commenter stated: "Actually... thanks, you ruined my childhood."
A Spanish-speaking TikToker stated: "I'm from Spain and I can tell u that all Spanish songs have a double meaning..."
Finally, someone else chimed in: "The worst thing is that I speak Spanish and when I saw this I was like- wait, imma check this. And it's true."
A number of other people commented on other songs from their childhoods which they'd later realized were surprisingly profane.
For example, one commenter stated: "The first song that I thought of was 'Whistle' by Florida.'"
Another person suggested: "'California Girls by Katy Perry for me."
A third commenter wrote: "[Nearly] all of One Direction songs [are] inappropriate I should not have been listening to them when I was four."
Finally, another commenter added: "'Wasn't Me' by Shaggy for me..."

School talent shows are an old tradition, giving pupils the chance to impress their peers with a display of skill. Some people try out dance, some people opt for magic tricks.
But this week a high school student allegedly had the audacity to impress his fellow students in a unique way. Namely, by drumming a very NSFW tune from a NSFW website.
The video of the performance, which has since gone viral on social media, was first uploaded to Instagram by a user going by the handle @bitchylaughs.
Take a look at the hilarious video of the drum performance below:
[[jwplayerwidget||https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/hLma39wi-sKUnNGKf.mp4||hLma39wi]]
The video seemingly showed a teenage boy playing the drums at his school assembly, only to briefly play the short jingle on the adult website PornHub when displaying the thumbnail for its community page. Although the teachers seemed bemused, some of the boy's classmates can be seen dancing ironically to the tune - obviously in on the joke.
When footage of the recital taken from a different angle was uploaded to another account on Instagram (and later to TikTok) it was captioned: "This kid got expelled for playing the Pornhub intro song during a school rally. Absolute bullsh*t! Tag 3 people and comment bullsh*t below. [sic]"
The publisher tagged an Instagram user going by the handle @francispacia and claimed that he'd been expelled for the performance. This post soon garnered over 990,700 views and 158,800 likes in three days.
However, many social media viewers appeared to appreciate the kid's performance (assuming the incident actually happened and the footage hasn't been tampered with) and swiftly took to the comments to say so.
For instance, one person going by the handle @hardnox wrote: "Think about the lyrics to songs played at the school dances...even if they're censored. Too harsh a punishment... bullsh*t. Is Rodger Goodell sending him a fine too? [sic]"

A disturbing incident at a Miami dance studio has sparked outrage after a man was caught on video sniffing the seat where an underage girl had been sitting moments earlier.
The unsettling footage, which has gone viral on social media, shows a young girl sitting on a couch decorated with several pillows.
A few seconds into the clip, she stands up and walked away. Almost immediately, a man enters the room, appearing to be on a phone call.
He checks to see if there's anyone else around before bending down and quickly burying his face in the now-vacated couch. He then walks away.

Many people were left furious after the video went viral on social media and demanded that the police take action.
"That’s disgusting on so many levels," one person reacted, while another questioned: "What in the actual hell. That’s creepy as hell, but what will the charge be?? I’m genuinely asking.. or will he just be banned from going there again?"
A third added: "What makes it worse is the sheer blatancy of that sniff…he just went head first right into it on that one, not an ounce of subtlety or anything FFS."
The incident took place on Tuesday night as the dance studio was winding down for the evening. According to TMZ, a local dance studio owner immediately contacted authorities to report his behavior.
Miami Springs Police Chief Matthew Castillo has confirmed that officers reviewed the video footage and found the man's actions to be "strange" and highly inappropriate.
In a statement, the cop emphasized that they have since identified the man and are now working with prosecutors to determine if any criminal charges should be pursued.
He also disclosed that they are aware of his whereabouts, although his name has not been publicly released.

Many online users are calling for stricter safety protocols and increased surveillance in dance studios to ensure the protection of young students.
"Lock them up and throw away the key he should be nowhere near children, anyone that wants to work with children needs to be investigated very closely that goes for men and women," one person declared.
A second chimed in: "This is disturbing, Authorities getting involved is the right move, no space for this kind of behavior, especially around kids."
