A man has taken to social media to reveal the true meaning of the lyrics behind the hit 90s track 'Macarena.'
The revelation was made after a TikTok user going by the handle @peakay81 posted a video on the platform which he captioned:
"Tell me a song that you listened to when you were younger and you grew up and realized it's really dirty."
In the video in question, @peakay81 spoke about the classic Spanish dance song 'Macarena', written by Los del Río and later remixed by The Bayside Boys, which boasts some surprisingly scandalous lyrics.
The TikTok user stated that the song is really about "a woman whose boyfriend is about to join the army.
"She, when he’s away, has a threesome with his two best mates. No joke, Google it, what the f***?"
Indeed, according to LyricsTranslate, the song does feature a verse where a woman (presumably the eponymous Macarena herself) states:
Take a look at the music video for the original remix in the video below:"But don't you worry about my boyfriend,
He's a boy whose name is Vitorino.
I don't want him,
Couldn't stand him,
He was no good so I...Now, come on, what was I supposed to do?
He was out of town and his two friends were so fine."
Suffice it to say, a number of other TikTok were shocked by the song's x-rated content, and many took to the comments of @peakay81's to lambast him for "ruining" the track for them.

For instance, one person wrote: "Spanish is my native language and I have to Google this, because I didn't know about that."

Another commented: "I'm just gonna scroll before my childhood is ruined."

A third wrote: "You ruined my 22 years of fun and innocence."

Meanwhile, someone else stated: "never knew until today, looking up lyrics right now."

Another commenter stated: "Actually... thanks, you ruined my childhood."

A Spanish-speaking TikToker stated: "I'm from Spain and I can tell u that all Spanish songs have a double meaning..."

Finally, someone else chimed in: "The worst thing is that I speak Spanish and when I saw this I was like- wait, imma check this. And it's true."
A number of other people commented on other songs from their childhoods which they'd later realized were surprisingly profane.

For example, one commenter stated: "The first song that I thought of was 'Whistle' by Florida.'"

Another person suggested: "'California Girls by Katy Perry for me."

A third commenter wrote: "[Nearly] all of One Direction songs [are] inappropriate I should not have been listening to them when I was four."

Finally, another commenter added: "'Wasn't Me' by Shaggy for me..."
