Dick Van Dyke showed that he's still got a spring in his step this week.
The 96-year-old Hollywood legend was spotted out and about in Malibu last Thursday (June 16), according to a report by the New York Post.
Van Dyke was first seen leaving lunch with friends, dressed casually in a light gray sweater, navy pants, and slip-on shoes. He beamed and told well-wishers cheerfully that he is "just glad to still be here" as he made his way of to run some errands.
Later in the day, the Mary Poppins star was scouted running errands around town. Most notable was a bottle of Neutrogena self-tanning spray, which Van Dyke picked up from a store before getting behind the wheel of his Lexus and driving himself home.
Despite his age, the famously spritely actor is showing no signs of slowing down. Last Thursday was not the first time he's been seen out and about in Malibu; he and his 50-year-old wife, Arlene Silver, can often be seen popping to lunch or hitting the gym together.
In an interview with Closer Weekly, the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang alum opened up about keeping fit and staying active, revealing he still works out three times a week.
"I’ve always been an exerciser and still am … I get in the pool and exercise. At my age, they say to keep moving. Put me on solid ground and I’ll start tapping," he told the outlet in 2009.
The actor went on to reveal that he does water aerobics, lifts weights, and walks on a treadmill. As for how he's kept in good shape all these years, Van Dyke credited "good genes and not getting hit by a bus."
Meanwhile, he had to give his 46-year-younger wife some credit, admitting that she keeps him young.
"I sometimes forget that we’re doing a great experiment here — 46 years’ difference. And we work at it to some extent," he said. "There’s got to be some understanding. Find out what old habits don’t work anymore. It takes some adjusting and fitting in, but that’s part of the fun of it."
The loved-up pair - who have recently celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary - first met at the 2007 Screen Actors Guild Awards, when Van Dyke was 81 and Silver was just 35.
