Dick Van Dyke has opened up about his backyard workout routine and admitted that he's "looking forward" to turning 100.

According to People, the 95-year-old Mary Poppins actor spoke about aging and his general heath in an interview in a segment on CBS This Morning.

As the interview shows, Van Dyke takes time out of each day to perform a number of sit-up exercises, and he even demonstrated for the benefit of audiences at home in front of the cameras.

Watch the actor show off his workout routine in the video below:

In the interview, Van Dyke says:

"I'm 95, and a lot of my friends won't do these [...] So all you old guys out there, listen to me, I'm telling you: You can keep going for a long [time]. I'm still dancing! And singing!"

He also spoke about the hard work involved in his returning to the world of Disney's Mary Poppins in the 2018 live-action movie Mary Poppins Returns, starring Emily Blunt. He added:

"I'm looking forward to 100. George Burns made it, and I'm gonna do it too!"

But this isn't the first time that the star has spoken about his old age, or about how to stay fit.

Speaking in a 2015 interview to promote his book Keep Moving and Other Tips and Truths About Aging, Van Dyke stated that the hardest part of the process was giving up certain passions and pursuits.

Van Dyke claimed that, although he was still capable of dancing, he had been forced to give up tennis due to his age.

Speaking to NPR, the actor said: "You know, I made a habit of asking other people in their old age: 'of all the things you enjoyed doing when you were younger that you can't anymore, what do you miss?'

"You have to pick what you enjoy doing, what fulfills you, what interests you. And I realize that's not possible for a lot of people.

"As Thoreau said, a lot of people are living lives of quiet desperation. But almost anyone can find that one immersing hobby or pastime that they love to do."
