A horror movie with a budget of $0 has topped the box office in the US.
Unsubscribed has made over $25,000 in a day, and it comes as the filming of various high-budget horror movies including A Quiet Place: Part II and Black Widow have been postponed as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
This is something that actor and YouTuber Eric Tabach, alongside filmmaker Christian Nilsson, decided to capitalize on.
They created the film Unsubscribed in just five days. It's a 29-minute horror movie shot entirely on Zoom and it starred Netflix's Ozark actor Charlie Tahan, a.k.a. Wyatt Langmore.
Tabach told BBC News: "Four-walling is when distributors rent out a movie theatre and buy all the seats. So they pay a flat fee to the theatre, and any money they make off seats goes straight into their pockets. The moment we realized that was an option of distribution, we went for it.
"I noticed that the box office figures were absurd; $9,000, $15,000 for each movie. Nothing big was coming out. Blockbuster films were on hold. I wanted to find a way to get the biggest number."
Tabach and Nilsson watching their own movie in the theatre, all while topping the box office and turning a pretty hefty profit on their nonexistent budget.
You can currently watch Unsubscribed on the streaming platform Vimeo.

If you keep on catching your reflection in the mirror and obsessing about your doppelgänger who's trapped beneath the surface, waiting for their chance to kill you, you're not alone.
Jordan Peele's new horror Us smashed at the box office last weekend, pulling in an impressive $71.1 million, nearly double the figure analysts' projected of $35 million to $45 million. The final three-day total released on Monday was also higher than the $70.3 originally estimated by the studio on Sunday.
The result breaks opening records for an original horror movie and an original R-rated film, and marks the best start for a live-action original film since Avatar opened with $77 million in 2009. Not a bad result, huh?

Speaking of the film's opening weekend success Jim Orr, President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution for Universal Pictures said: "It's amazing. The film absolutely blew by the most robust of forecasts and I think that's all to do with the great appeal of Jordan Peele.
"Put simply, Jordan Peele is a genius. He’s managed to tap into something that the domestic box office can’t get enough of. People can’t wait to see what he does next."
In case you'd missed the trailer, the psychological thriller sees Lupita Nyong'o star as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her husband, Gabe (Winston Duke), and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex) for an idyllic summer getaway.
Haunted by an unresolved trauma from her past and shaken by a string of eerie coincidences, the mother experiences growing paranoia and becomes increasingly certain that something bad is going to happen to her family.
After spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers (Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon and Noelle Sheldon), Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. Upon nightfall, the family discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway: doppelgängers of themselves.
Jordan Peele, the horror movie's writer and director, recently discussed the terrifying idea of doppelgängers, claiming they represent "everything that we don't face in ourselves".
"It starts with the fear that I can't explain," he said in an interview. "This idea that if I saw myself on the street, you immediately know that one of you might go. There's only room for one. And on top of that, if you see yourself, and yourself smiles back at you, you know the other one has the upper hand."

Continuing to discuss why looking into a mirror can be an alarming experience, he said: "It makes you question your identity. You know, the one thing we can count on in our own consciousness is that it's ours, and this place in the universe is ours — the one thing that we can know for certain. And when that is put into question, it's just this existential crisis.
"Now, throughout history the doppelganger mythology exists. And what I think it represents is this — is everything that we don't face in ourselves. It is a representation of the guilt, the trauma, the fear, the hatred that might be buried underneath layers of pleasantry. All that stuff that we don't deal with: When it comes out, it'll come out in crazy ways."
"This movie stretched me, it bent me, it cost me a whole lot," she told the Radio 1Xtra breakfast show. "It was technically very challenging. We're playing against ourselves. The way in which things had to play out was so specific. It took its emotional toll on me. I definitely had a moment of rupture while making this movie."
So, are you brave enough to join the masses and experience Jordan Peele's new hit? Suffice to say, you won't be judged if you take a pillow to hide behind.
Halloween and scary movies come hand in hand, especially in 2020 when we will be getting our spook on from a safe social distance!
That's why it's the perfect year to plan a horror movie marathon, and now you could get paid for the job as a company is offering one lucky ghoul the chance to earn $1,000 for binge-watching scary movies for a whole 24 hours.
If you haven't seen it yet, this is the trailer for The Haunting of Bly Manor, which has just dropped on Netflix:
CableTV.com and HighSpeedInternet.com are also offering the successful candidate a $50 Starbucks gift card so they won't be short of coffee to help see them through the 24-hour shift.
But, admittedly, if the movies chosen are scary enough, they probably won't need it.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Pexels]]
According to the competition page: "The sick-cessful candidate is a self-starter with an insatiable lust for nightmare fuel. When others say 'Nope,' you say, 'Hell, yeah'. You can stay up all night. You're a US citizen over the age of 18.
"Most importantly, you’re a big horror fan - 'cause we don't hire posers (not even as interns). You should prefer cult films to blockbusters and probably read Rue Morgue and BloodyDisgusting.com to learn about upcoming fright films.
"If you answered 'yes' to those questions and meet our qualifications - you're the one we stalk."
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Pexels]]
CableTV.com noted that 24 hours is 1,440 minutes, and the majority of feature films are 90 to 120 minutes long, so the successful candidate will have to pick between 12 and 16 horror movies to scare themselves silly for the 24-hour horror fest.
If this sounds like all of your spooky dreams come true, then you can apply for the job here.
And if you happen to be successful, it's probably a good idea to also inform you that a Hocus Pocus wine collection is launching just in time for the spookiest night of the year.
Available in white and rosé varieties, the wine is the perfect tipple for the spooky season, when you and your friends can excitedly discuss the contents of the Hocus Pocus sequel which is being released on Disney+ next year.
With a 12.5% ABV, the wine comes in cans adorned with each Sanderson sister, played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, and punny renditions of lines from the film.
Taste-wise, the rosé wine has been described as "bright and lightly bubbly with flavors of cherry, dried roses, and lychee."
The white wine, on the other hand, is described as having "fragrant aromas with a smooth blend between dry and sweet on the palate."
Boxes of the Hocus Pocus themed wine can be purchased in six-packs for $36 here, however, you'll need to be quick as they are unsurprisingly already selling out.
Netflix says it will spend up to $8 billion on original content next year. That is insane! I remember when Netflix was just DVDs in a red envelope that came in the mail (and often skipped on the best part of the movie.) But the company realized they couldn't survive on their original business model, due to studios charging more and more for the rights to movies and TV shows. Every year, their library grew smaller and smaller.
In a brilliant decision, Netflix decided to make their own content. The entertainment industry scoffed, until they got their first two hits: House Of Cards and Orange Is The New Black. Now they've made countless original TV shows and movies - Stranger Things, Bright, BoJack Horseman, The Cloverfield Paradox, etc. But in this ocean of content, sometimes you stumble upon something that got zero coverage or buzz.
Here are 6 Netflix Original movies you had no idea even existed.
1. When We First Met
In this romantic comedy, Noah (Workaholics' Adam DeVine) meets Avery at a Halloween party, and gets put in the dreaded 'friend zone.' Three years later, Avery's engaged, and Noah realizes he's in love with her. Thanks to a magical photo booth - yes, you read that right - he can travel back in time, over and over, until he can win her love.
My opinion: It looks like Groundhog Day, except totally horrible.
2. #realityhigh
You can tell this movie's going to be good, because it starts with a hashtag, just like #citizenkane. This movie tells the story of Dani, a nerdy high school student, and you can tell she's nerdy because she wears glasses. In order to become more popular, she gets a makeover, by taking off her glasses. Now everyone likes her, but unfortunately her plans are thwarted by her high school nemesis, who has 9 million online followers.
My opinion: This movie has a clear anti-glasses agenda, and I don't support it.
3. Irreplaceable You
In this romantic comedy, Abbie and Sam are engaged to be married, but their lives take an unexpected turn when Abbie is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Since her future is uncertain, she decides to search for a new romantic partner for Sam. Along the way, she joins a support group with characters played the always-entertaining Christopher Walken and SNL's Kate McKinnon. Also, her doctor is played by Timothy Simmons (aka Jonah from Veep).
My opinion: If you liked the cancer comedy 50/50, and cancer rom-com The Fault Of Our Stars, you will like this.
4. iBoy
After a violent encounter with thugs, Tom gets a smartphone smashed on his head. But this turns out to be a blessing in disguise, as the shards give him superhuman powers. In a world where teenagers are snorting condoms and eating Tide pods, I feel like this movie should come with several disclaimers, so this doesn't turn into the next online challenge. Anyway, after Tom's friend Lucy (Maisee Williams from Game of Thrones) gets assaulted by criminals, he uses his powers to avenge her. It's like Taken for teens.
My opinion: Looks like three Tide pods out of five.
5. Wheelman
This movie is about a man with the magical power to turn into a wheel. Just kidding. It stars Frank Grillo as a getaway driver who works for the Mafia. But during one assignment, he's told to abandon the bank robbers and take off with the money. Then there's a bunch of gunshots, double-crosses and car chases. It looks like the whole movie takes place inside the car, which is an interesting concept, if nothing else.
My opinion: I'd rather watch Drive again. (or a movie about a man with the magical power to turn into a wheel.)
6. Roxanne Roxanne
Before Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, there was Roxanne Shante. Roxanne grew up in the Queensbridge Projects in the 80's, and was known as a fierce battle rapper. After recording a diss song that blew up, she was launched into superstardom. The movie is produced by the same team that made Fruitvale Station and Dope, which is a pretty good sign of quality. We've seen huge hip-hop artists like N.W.A., 2pac and The Notorious B.I.G. get their own biopics, but not an overlooked MC like Roxanne.
My opinion: See it to learn about one of the first female rappers, and so Roxanne doesn't diss you.
A newly released horror movie has turned out to be so gruesome that people are passing out and vomiting in the theater.
The frightful flick, Terrifier 2, is a sequel to the original Terrifier movie, which came out in theaters in 2018. It followed the story of Art the Clown, who stalked and terrorized three young women on Halloween.
Unfortunately for another young woman and her younger brother, the murderous clown is back in the sequel, after being resurrected by a sinister being.
Terrifier 2 had a budget of $250,000, significantly more than the original's $35,000 budget. Since its release last week, the splatter film has already raked in over $1.2 million at the box office, moving Top Gun: Maverick out of the top 10, per Forbes.
After the first film was panned for its poor plot, director Damien Leone spent months working on the script for the sequel, Halloween Daily News reported - earning the new movie positive reviews. In fact, Rotten Tomatoes has given it an audience rating of 91%, with a critic rating close behind at 90%.
One critic from Horror Geek Life wrote: "With excellent lead performances, a ghoulish new character, and plenty of gory fun, it is great to see Art the Clown back on screen in Terrifier 2."

"Thornton's silent performance ranks among this year's contenders as one of the most refreshingly unnerving ones, affronting the otherwise sensible claim that killer clowns and slashers both have depreciated permanently in value," In Review Online said.

But while critics enjoyed the film, some viewers had a hard time stomaching the blood and gore...
One user tweeted: "Just saw Terrifier 2. It was an amazing gory mess. The guy behind me passed out cold n crashed into my chair, another guy left because he didn't feel good, I overheard him say and walking out theatre door I heard a guy puking hard and loud in the bathroom."
"Emergency Medical Technicians were called to my theater as someone passed out [sic]," someone else added.
"My friend passed out and the theater called an ambulance. Highly recommended," a third user chimed in.
Well, it seems the verdict is in. So, viewers beware - this is definitely not for the faint-hearted!
