It has been reported that Cameron Diaz will be retiring from acting - again - following a short-lived comeback.

The 50-year-old actress, best known for her iconic roles in Charlie's Angels and Bad Teacher, is seemingly calling it quits with her career after her latest stint, and most likely her last, on Netflix in the upcoming action-comedy Back in Action.

Starring alongside Django Unchained alum Jamie Foxx, the movie will see the actress take on one of the leading roles, though no official details of what the plot line will entail have yet been made public.

All we do know is that it will be directed by Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon with Brendan O’Brien also joining the team to help write the script for the feature. Datari Turner and Mark McNair are also set to O’Brien as executive producers on the project.

This occasion marks Diaz's third collaboration with Foxx.

The pair have starred in multiple other projects earlier on in both their careers including the 1999 sports drama Any Given Sunday as well as the 2014 remake of Annie.

However, while fans might be excited about the duo taking to the big screen once again, they should savor the moment as this will most likely be the last time they witness it - well unless Diaz decides to come out of retirement again.

Rumors that Diaz had retired from her filmmaking days were sparked after her co-star from The Sweetest Thing Selma Blair made the claim, as reported by Metro UK, that the 50-year-old had chosen to retire.

The Cruel Intentions actress recalled a chat about retirement with Diaz, saying: "I had lunch with Cameron the other day. We were reminiscing about [The Sweetest Thing]. I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron's retired from acting. She’s like 'I’m done.'"

Then later in another interview, Diaz confirmed the4 rumors stating: "I’m semi-retired, too, and I am actually retired, so I would love to see you ladies," when speaking of a reunion between Blair, as well as their friend, Christina Applegate.

Diaz's focus has now reportedly shifted to her family life due to the time-consuming nature of her job.

"These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix," a source close to Diaz told the Daily Mail earlier this week. "Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world."

While Diaz’s husband, Benji Madden, is very supportive of her acting career, her time on set has apparently "been a lot on him."

The pair share a daughter, Raddix Madden, who was born in December 2019 as per PEOPLE.

Taking to Instagram, Diaz and Madden announced the birth of their daughter with an emotional post on the actress's Instagram that read: "We are so happy, blessed, and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family."

She went on to say that while they were "overjoyed to share this news," they "also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one's privacy." Diaz added, "So we won't be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really, really cute! Some would even say RAD."

Back in Action is set to hit Netflix in 2024.
