Let's be honest here, the Solange Knowles vs Jay-Z fight was one of the greatest moments in celebrity history. No one really knows why the incident happened, with their being rumors that it was down to Jay-Z's infidelity, but the actual scrap itself was far more exciting than the McGregor vs Mayweather bout that happened last August.

For those of you who don't remember, the fight occurred in the elevator of a hotel and featured Solange raining down a series of punches, slaps and kicks on the rapper who, despite trying to fend her off as best he could, looked visibly stunned by the attack. Throughout the whole ordeal, Beyonce could be seen standing in the corner, staying out of the way of the whole confrontation.

However, while the footage was leaked by TMZ (who else would it be!), neither party has ever spoken on the incident. Bey and Jay both addressed the rumors of infidelity in their respective albums, but the elevator incident was never addressed. However, one man who has lent his opinion to the whole ordeal is Mathew Knowles.

Mathew, who is the father of Beyonce and Solange, appeared on the Wendy show to talk about life as a dad of the Grammy-winning sisters and a host of other different subjects.

The pair spoke about a possible Destiny's Child reunion and about his experiences managing the girl band. However, it was when the subject changed to the issue of Solange and Jay-Z that the interview got interesting. Asked what his reaction to the fight was, the father simply said.

“I have to tell you, I laughed so hard."

"I laughed so hard because, if you know Solange — that’s Solange," he said.

"You just never know what you’re going to get… firecracker. Don’t know where she get that from…"

"Then Beyonce would be in the corner, quiet, just kinda, like ‘When y’all finish, let me know.’ So I laughed."

While Mathew may think that the incident is funny now, at the time, the family issued a statement that had a slightly more serious tone to it.

“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it,” it read.

"Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."

So Jay-Z's father-in-law thinks that the scrap between his daughter and his son-in-law was funny? It's safe to say that the rapper is lucky Bey's dad is pretty laid back, I'm not too sure that other parents would take the same view.
