Kelly Rizzo, the widow of the late Bob Saget, has opened up about her romantic life and confirmed her new relationship - two years after Saget's death.
Saget tragically passed away in January 2022 in Florida due to an unexpected fall in his hotel room, resulting in a fatal head trauma.
In a heartfelt statement issued by the family shortly after his passing, they confirmed the devastating news and the circumstances surrounding his death.
"Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities' investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us," the family expressed.
"They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it, and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved."
Saget's widow, Kelly Rizzo, took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the tragedy. In a post, she recalled her late husband's passion for life and their shared love of food. "We were in our happy place together whenever we were out at a restaurant, hotel lobby bar, or even our own kitchen," Rizzo reminisced.
In September 2023, Rizzo opened up about struggling to move on romantically and how Saget's family supported her.
"You get to a point where you separate what earthly Bob would have been like," she told the Daily Mail. "And he would have been like, 'You can't move on! How dare you! How could you!' But when I hear his friends and family say, 'No, he would want you to be happy,' and when you get to that point, then you feel at peace with that happening."
Rizzo has now confirmed her new relationship with actor Breckin Meyer at Steven Tyler’s annual Grammy Awards viewing party.
The 49-year-old Meyer and Rizzo made their public debut as a couple, walking hand in hand on the red carpet at a Janie’s Fund charity event.
Speaking to E! News, Rizzo expressed the emotional process of reaching this point in her life. "It took a while to get to the point where I’m like, ‘OK, I think he’d be happy with it’," she shared.
Meyer is perhaps best known for his roles in movies like Road Trip, Rat Race, and the live-action Garfield movies.
Saget's three daughters - Aubrey, 36, Lara, 34, and Jennifer, 31 - have given their blessing to Rizzo's new relationship, a gesture that deeply touched her.
"It’s wonderful, it just meant so much to have their blessing," Rizzo told the outlet. "They’re just angels. And to have them support is so meaningful."
While Rizzo didn't necessarily require permission from Saget's children, having their heartfelt blessing carried significance for her.
"I’d love to think that Bob would want me to be happy too, but to hear it from them is just a totally different level," she expressed to Fox News Digital in December.
"And it meant the world just to hear, ‘Hey, we trust you. We love you. We know you’re going to do what’s right, and we want you to be happy.’”
