Calvin Harris reveals he needed lifesaving help after his heart stopped

Calvin Harris has taken to Twitter to reveal that he needed lifesaving help back in 2014 after his heart stopped.

On Tuesday, the DJ revealed on the social media platform that his heart was "restarted" in the emergency room, alongside a retweet of a video of his June 2014 performance at the Electric Daisy Festival.

"Interesting year for me 2014, started with me knocking myself off number 1 in the UK and ended with my heart getting restarted in the ER...this sort of stuff happened in between," he wrote.

While the 36-year-old has alluded to his condition in the past, he hasn't disclosed that he required to have his heart restarted. Instead, the Feels singer explained to fans that he had "some heart problems” that needed to “be fixed”, and were the reason behind him cancelling several shows, according to PEOPLE.

He then clarified that he had arrhythmia - a heart condition that causes an irregular heartbeat and can lead to chest pain, as well as fainting and dizziness.

And it's this condition that led him to give up drinking back in 2018. "Haven't drank in 4 years big man [sic]," Harris disclosed on Twitter back in 2018 after a fan enquired about his sobriety. "Aye things are a bit less fun but haven't had an arrhythmia since 2014."

"The last thing I want to do is down 2 bottles of jack daniels a night, live on greggs pasties and sleep on an absolutely stinking bus all year, scream down a mic for 55 minutes and pretend to play a keyboard 5x a week those days are behind me son [sic]," he added.
