Chris Pratt responds to Anna Faris' 'heartbreaking' body shaming
Anna Faris and Chris Pratt separated last year, all but quelling our belief in that little thing we call "love". The pair, however, were quick to insist that they still "have love for each other, will always cherish [their] time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another".
And this was something that the Avengers star proved this week when his ex-wife was the victim of body-shaming comments - which criticised the thinness of her legs - something that Pratt was allegedly "heartbroken" about.
Faris posted a comedic picture of herself to Instagram where she was standing over a bin in her underwear and a jumper, captioned "Having pre-show jitters. Also, I eventually decided to put on pants."
But after being spammed with unsolicited comments informing her that she was too thin, she took the picture down within 15 minutes of uploading it.
"This is alarming! I feel like this pic is a very for help," one Instagram user wrote in the comments, while another added "You look so unhealthy, eat!"
The actress's ex-husband, Pratt, was reportedly one of the first people to come to her defence. Hollywood Life claims that Pratt, whom Faris was married to for nine years, voiced his concern for her after seeing the disturbing comments.
"Chris still has so much respect for a woman that he was so in love with for a long time and not only that the mother of his child," an insider source told the publication. "His respect for Anna goes a very long way and that will never change and that is why he is heartbroken that people are body shaming her."
"It’s awful, he hates it and he wants her to know that she has his support through all of this because he doesn’t want the bullying to continue or win," the source continued. "His hope is that she knows that there are so many people who care for her and respect her and he hopes that she doesn’t take the bullying to heart because she doesn’t deserve it one bit."
Pratt and Faris took to social media in August of last year to announce that they had split. "Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating," the statement, which was posted on both actors' Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts, read. "We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another."
While we're still not wholly over Anna and Chris' separation, it is heartening to see that the pair still have each other's best interests at heart.
