We are in thrall to celebrity and all of its trappings.
Whether furiously keeping up with the Kardashians' every twist and turn, voraciously consuming Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' social media humor or mourning the end of celebrity relationships like Anna Faris and Chris Pratt and Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, we basically can't get enough of the rich and famous.
Indeed, many of us would happily trade our every day jobs for a shot at the big time; it's why people go on shows like Love Island and Big Brother, for the slim chance that it might lead to a more glamorous life.
While eschewing arguably more worthwhile pursuits for a shot at fame and fortune may or may not be a good thing, there's certainly no harm in keeping up with our favourite celebrity pairings.
Which is just as well, because Eva Longoria and Jose Baston have just welcomes their first child together, and shared an adorable picture to boot.
Longoria has long spoken about her desire to become a mother, saying in 2011;
“[I want to] have kids and be a mom."
At the time she was housing two girl friends, describing the situation thus;
“I’m like the mother hen for a sorority house. It’s all women, all the time,” Longoria said. “So, we’re always cooking! I love it!”
She also spoke to Parade magazine about the subject, when she said;
"I've always wanted a family. I believe in family. But children are a product of love.
"So I don't think I'll go off and have a baby by myself. I do not have that need to procreate."
Well now, Longoria has given birth to a baby boy, who they have named Santiago, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The couple told Hola! USA "We are so grateful for this beautiful blessing," and shared an adorable picture of their son.
Following their wedding, Longoria had spoken to E! about the notion of starting a family with Jose, she said;
"Right now I am a step mom to three amazing kids, and I've had my hands full, and they are amazing and wonderful. It's been a lot of fun, a lot of fun being a step mom
"It if happens, it happens — if it's meant to be it would be a blessing."
Earlier this year, Longoria wrote on Instagram;
"You guys it’s my first Mother’s Day!!!! Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mommies out there! May you be appreciated all year round for the hard work you do. And happy Mother’s day to my mama, Ella, the best mommy in the world!"
Congratulations to the couple on their brilliant news!
