Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has fast become a box office hit, but the 2024 sequel to the horror classic has left everyone saying the same thing about Alec Baldwin.

Although Baldwin, 55, is not actually in Beetlejuice 2, the release of the long-awaited sequel had people looking back at the 1988 classic.

In it, Baldwin had played Adam Maitland, alongside Geena Davis as his wife, Barbara Maitland, but neither character appears in the 2024 follow-up, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

However, with all the hype, many fans have revisited the original, while new fans have also watched the movie for the first time - and everyone appears to have come to the same consensus about Baldwin's role in it.

In the 1988 Beetlejuice movie, Baldwin and Davis star as the Maitlands, who are killed in a car crash and become ghosts, destined to haunt and drive out the new owners of their home.

The characters were not written into the new movie, with Davis believing it was because she and Baldwin had aged in real life - while ghosts would not look any different after 35 years.

Director Tim Burton, however, claimed that was not the case, telling People that he "didn’t want to just tick any boxes", adding: "So even though they were such an amazing integral part of the first one, I was focusing on something else."

An early draft of the script did feature a cameo from Baldwin and Davis, which was later written out, however, their absence is explained as them having found a "loophole" to move on in the afterlife.

Now, with hundreds of fans looking back at the original movie, people have been taken aback that the "hot" Maitland husband was in fact played by Baldwin - and how much of a heartthrob he was at the time.

They took to Twitter (now X) to write: "rewatching Beetlejuice and I always forget young Alec Baldwin looked like THAT."

Others added: "I’m watching beetlejuice 1 for the first time. Why didn’t anyone tell me Alec Baldwin was this hot in the 80s," and: "Watching beetlejuice for the first time and why didn’t anyone tell me Alec baldwin was in it and hot?"

Another commented: "every time i watch beetlejuice i’m forced to contend with the fact that alec baldwin truly used to be fine as hell," while someone else wrote: "Rewatching Beetlejuice only to discover than Alec Baldwin is in it and he’s hot is something I didn’t think I would discover today."
