Mike Myers has made his first public appearance in over a year -- and fans hardly recognized him.

The 60-year-old actor is without a doubt one of the most successful comedy stars in Hollywood - becoming a cultural phenomenon in both the Austin Powers and Shrek franchises.

Additionally, the actor has wowed audiences with his roles in movies like Bohemian Rhapsody, Cat in the Hat, and Wayne's World.

But, I guess the funny thing about all of these roles is that the actor is always styled beyond recognition -- even in Shrek he doesn't use his real voice! Throw in the fact that Myers hasn't appeared on the big screen since 2022's Amsterdam, and it's no wonder people are starting to feel a little unfamiliar with the acting legend.

So when Myers made a rare appearance at Saturday night's (April 27) 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala in Hollywood, fans didn't recognize him.

As he took to the stage, Myers disguised himself in a long black cloak and spooky white mask. When he finally revealed himself to the audience prior to making his speech, Myers was seen sporting a white buzzcut, accompanied by white stubble.

Although he looked absolutely fantastic (honestly, Mike, keep the look), viewers quick took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their dismay.

One person asked: "Is this really Mike Myers?!"

Another added: "Mike Myers looks a lot different now."

Myers has experienced ebbs and flows in his career trajectory over the years.

In 2014, the Wayne’s World star staged a mini resurgence - during which he addressed his periodic disappearances from the limelight.

Reflecting on his creative process, he told GQ: "Every time I make a movie, it’s usually three or four years between. I write most of what I do and create most of what I do."

Discussing his complex relationship with fame, Myers metaphorically compared exposure to fame to a rather humorous analogy, stating: "Mostly the exposure that comes with fame is like putting your penis on the table and having everybody saying 'that looks like a penis, only smaller’."

In a separate interview with Metrograph last year, Myers revealed that he's gone from being a career-focused individual in his 20s to someone who is now prioritizing his family.

He expressed: "I still am working on many things, but I have three kids under the age of 11, and the last 16 years has been me just learning to... That’s been the happiest time of my life, actually, prioritizing trying to get healthy and taking care of these kids. Still making stuff, but with the correct priority."
