Britney Spears has been making pop bangers for two decades. Toxic, Womanizer, Oops I Did It Again - the list goes on and on. Believe it or not, her first hit single, Baby One More Time, turns 20 years old in October. So, make sure to celebrate the milestone by wearing a schoolgirl uniform to work and doing a sexy-but-innocent choreographed dance in the hallway.
After completing a four year residency in Las Vegas, Britney went on a world tour. The pop icon performed at several cities in the U.S., then expanded to Europe, visiting Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Ireland, Belgium and England. And along the way, a meme started: Crowds screamed, "Who is it?" To which she replied, "It's Britney, bitch!"
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Britney said the Piece Of Me tour was a lot of fun, and a lot of work. "This round of shows that we are doing on tour, they are back-to-back. ... I don't have any time apart besides flying, so it's really just the show itself is going to keep me [in shape]. ... My show is a workout in itself. It keeps you really strong ... It's really important to spread joy. It's contagious. I think that's really sexy for women."
Apparently, all that work caught up to Britney. At her last stop in Europe, Blackpool, England, she made an embarrassing mistake. On stage, she yelled, "How you feeling Birmingham?" Then she quickly corrected herself, saying, "I mean, Blackpool!" The crowd responded with a mixture of laughter, boos and cheers. She continued, "I'm gonna get emotional with you guys. This is my last show of 'Piece of Me.'"
In Britney's defense, her previous concert, the night before, was at Birmingham, England. According to Google Maps, the two cities are about 125 miles from each other. Considering how much work she's putting into the stage show, you can see how she'd make a mistake. Also, she's American, and as an American, I can say pretty confidently that nobody's ever heard of Birmingham or Blackpool. The only city in England we care about is London, because that's where you board the Hogwarts Express.
Fans were upset with Britney for forgetting where she was during a concert. On social media, they took the piss out of the Gimme More singer, since she was performing right next to the city's landmark, the Blackpool Tower. I guess that would be kind of like performing next to the Eiffel Towel in Paris, and accidentally shouting out Pontoise. (Except, you know, the Eiffel Tower is a landmark people have actually heard of. Loosen up, Blackpool! LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!)
Well, at least Britney corrected herself quickly. Maybe she can poke fun at this incident at her next concert. When the crowd screams, "Who is it?", she can reply, "It's Christina Aguilera! I mean, it's Britney, bitch."
