Heidi Klum debuts her 2025 Halloween costume which fans insist will "give them nightmares"

Every year the model and television personality Heidi Klum surprises fans with an elaborate Halloween reveal, and 2025 was no exception.

On the night of October 31 in New York City, Klum made her grand entrance at her annual party in a chilling new guise. Fans and media alike were quick to react, with some saying the look could give them nightmares.

For her 24th or 25th annual Halloween event (sources vary between 24 and 25 years depending on inclusions) she stepped into the shoes of the mythological figure Medusa — a woman with snakes for hair whose gaze turns onlookers to stone. Klum arrived in full transformation, complete with green scales, moving head‑snakes, a long tail, sharp fangs, and a menacing tongue.

Fans on social media were buzzing within minutes of the reveal, describing the costume as both “jaw‑dropping” and “nightmare fuel.” One person wrote, “As a child of the 80s who was traumatized by the stop motion animation in Clash of the Titans, this is going to give me nightmares.” Alongside her was her husband Tom Kaulitz, who portrayed a stone‑turned warrior, playing into the Medusa myth.

Klum’s costume preparation reached full myth‑mode

Behind the scenes, this year’s look didn’t happen overnight. Klum and her longtime prosthetic and special‑effects collaborator Mike Marino (an Emmy winner credited for work including The Penguin) spent months conceiving the Medusa concept. The build involved more than 15 team members, and required nine to ten hours of makeup application on the night of the reveal.

Klum said of the costume: “I wanted to be really, really like a really ugly, ugly Medusa. And I feel like we nailed it ‑ to the teeth.” In a nod to the tail she’d be wearing, she added: “I am ready to shake this rattlesnake tail!”

Why fans say this may be her most frightening look yet

Comparisons to Klum’s past costumes make the jump especially striking. Her previous looks include a giant worm (2023) and an E.T. costume (2024). But this year’s Medusa theme tapped directly into deep horror‑icon territory: snakes, fangs, and the gaze that petrifies. In her Instagram reel the caption read: “HAPPY HEIDIWEEN 🐍 Don’t stare too long or you’ll turn to stone.”

The mood of the party also reflected that extra edge. Held at the Hard Rock Hotel New York on Music Row in New York, and presented by brands including Butterfinger and Huluween on Disney+, the event’s red carpet photo‑op showcased Klum’s green‑scaled body suit, snake headpiece, and long tail in dramatic lighting.

Fans online have been posting reactions, with one penning: “She looks almost unrecognizable. That tongue! That stare!”

Another added: “Nightmare fuel. But I love it.”

A third wrote: "Ok I never thought she’d outdo worm."

Whether the look is exactly “nightmare” level may depend on your tolerance for horror glam, but there’s no denying it pushed the envelope.
