'Friends' stars attend Matthew Perry's funeral

Following the tragic passing of Matthew Perry, his loved ones have attended his funeral in Los Angeles, including his Friends co-stars.

The devastating news of Perry's death broke on Saturday 28, confirming the passing of the 54-year-old Friends actor. First responders found Perry unresponsive at his Los Angeles residence.

The Los Angeles Times reported that authorities arrived at the scene around 4:00PM on Saturday, October 28, discovering him in an unresponsive state in a hot tub, before he was later declared dead.

In the wake of the tragic incident, Perry's family released a statement, expressing their gratitude for the overwhelming support they received from fans around the world.

They told People: "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him, and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."

Fans of Perry and Friends paid their respects at the iconic apartment building in New York City, leaving heartfelt tributes to the actor who had touched their lives. Near the famous building's exterior, which served as the backdrop for many memorable scenes in the show, a touching display of bouquets and handwritten notes emerged.

One of the notes, as reported by the Independent, said: "All I knew is that whenever I had big feelings, I could pop in a VHS box set of a given season in the VCR and not just feel okay, but even laugh. As reliable as a true friend, 20 years later, Friends is still my comfort show. Thank you, Matty, for making me feel peace and joy, from middle school to my mid-thirties."

Perry's loved ones gathered last week to say their final farewells, including his co-stars from Friends.

As reported by TMZ, at the solemn ceremony, members of  Perry's family, including his mother, Suzanne Morrison, his father, John Bennett Perry, and his stepfather, Dateline correspondent Keith Morrison, carried his coffin.

The event appeared to be an intimate affair, with around 20 individuals standing near Perry's burial plot.

While the actors Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow were also seen attending.

While it remains uncertain if a public celebration of Matthew Perry's life will be held in the future, it's no surprise that his burial was a private and discreet affair.

The Friends cast has always valued their privacy, and given the profound impact of this loss, their careful and considerate handling of the situation is entirely understandable.
