Harry Styles may have won one of the most prestigious gongs at the BRIT Awards - but it's his "new" accent that fans are discussing at length!
Last night, the former One Direction singer was awarded the prize for British Single of the Year for his 2020 hit 'Watermelon Sugar'. But he appears to have adopted an American drawl - if his acceptance speech is anything to go by.
The Cheshire native spends a lot of time in the US and is rumored to be dating American actress Olivia Wilde, which could explain his watered-down accent.
Check out Harry Style's new American-sounding accent for yourselves:Accepting the award presented to him by fellow UK icon Boy George, the 'Sign Of The Times' chart-topper addressed the British nation in his new trans-Atlantic accent.
He told viewers: "I just continue to be baffled by moments like this. They make me more and more incredibly grateful that I get to do this job every day. I am really happy and proud to be here celebrating British music tonight.
"I want to thank my friends for being so generous to me, always. And everyone who always has my back."
Then addressing the thousands of key workers from the UK's National Health Service, who were invited as guests at the awards ceremony, Styles said: "Thank you so much for everything you did for our country, this one is for you."
Of the 4,000 audience members at the awards show, 2,500 were key workers, who have been working at the frontline amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
But despite Styles' patriotic tribute to the country's health workers, what caught people's attention was how seemingly "un-British" he sounded.
One disappointed fan asked: "Why on earth doesn't he have the British accent?"
Another commented: "Harry Styles speaking with an American accent shocked me to the core."
A third asked: "Has Harry Styles set his accent to ‘shuffle’?"
A different user chimed in: "Harry styles losing his accent is tragic if he starts sounding anymore American I’m taking his poster off my wall."
A final person asked: "Did I just hear Harry Styles’ accent with an American twang?"
What do you think - do you like Style's new American twang or do you prefer his original Cheshire accent?
