Rising to fame through the television show 1000-lb Sisters with her sister, Amy Slaton-Halterman, Tammy Slaton's weight loss story has riveted audiences.

Long confined to a wheelchair due to her weight, the 37-year-old has triumphed over adversity.

This week, the reality TV star stunned fans after her friend, psychic medium Haley Michelle, shared an update on Slaton's remarkable journey.

"Proud of you," Michelle captioned the joint Instagram post, adding the hashtag #tammyslatonweightloss.

Check out the post below:

In the snap, Slaton sported a deep turquoise swimsuit with a design that looked like scales on a mermaid tail. She dipped her feet in the water while looking at her friend with a lovely smile on her face.

Many fans were left stunned by the picture and rushed to the comments section of the Instagram post to shower Slaton with compliments.

One user wrote: "Holy wow! The transformation is incredible! So happy to see how far you have come I may have cried a little."

Another said: "Look at you, girl! That is a JOURNEY," while a third commented: "You got to swim! So happy for you! I know how much you love to do it so that's so great to see."

A fourth said: "I know that Tammy must be so proud of herself. She fought the hard fight and made it when so many people wrote her off. Congrats girl!."

Slaton was 725 pounds when she underwent bariatric surgery in July 2022 to kickstart her weight loss journey.

According to the Mayo Clinic: "Bariatric surgery is done when diet and exercise haven’t worked or when you have serious health problems because of your weight. Some weight-loss procedures limit how much you can eat."

"Others work by reducing the body’s ability to absorb fat and calories. Some procedures do both," the website reads.

Before she could qualify for the procedure, the TV personality had to get down to 550 pounds so she entered a food addiction rehab center. But she initially left weighing more than when she entered, so returned and finally reached her goal.

In December 2023, Slaton revealed to PEOPLE that she lost an astonishing 440 pounds, putting her current weight at 285 pounds. She can now stand and walk unassisted but still has to use an oxygen tube to support her breathing.

“One of the big changes that I have gone through this past year is probably small to most people,” she tells the outlet. “But for me it was huge.”

She now uses her social media pages to share milestones and updates on her ongoing health journey with her followers.

“Just being able to walk without a walker or be pushed in a wheelchair, and no oxygen. I don't even sleep with it at night anymore,” she gushed. “Then it was being able to fit in a regular vehicle, front seat, and then the belt buckle, and not have to use an extender now. So I mean, just what seems minor to some people is giant for me.”
