Jada Pinkett Smith has opened up about a time when Child Protective Services were called to investigate her then-13-year-old daughter Willow's diet.

In an episode of her Facebook series, Red Table Talk, the 48-year-old actress revealed that someone had reported her family to the authorities, claiming they were starving Willow.

As explained on the show, it all began when a photo of Willow lying in bed with Disney star and family friend Moises Arias began circulating around the internet and sparking controversy due to the age gap between the pair.

Moises was 20 at the time and Willow was 13. Despite the family's insistence that the photo was innocent, a CPS investigation began.

"That was the first time I ever got furious," Jada said on the show while Willow, 19, added: "I was looking at the lady and the whole time I was thinking, 'You could be helping so many kids right now'. And you’re wasting your time with a child who has everything they need."

Jada recalls panicking over the social worker's visit, asking Willow and her brother Jaden to be on their "best behavior" during the interview.

"My kids were like, 'whatever'" Jada said. "And that’s how they treated it. Her and Jaden… and there was nothing Will and I could do. We were just like, 'Please chill out.' And they were like, 'No. This is stupid and it’s ridiculous.'"

Jada adds: "It was like their personal protest. The way they were conducting these interviews was literally like, 'What are you doing here?'"

Willow then goes on to say that she and her brother were "gangster" throughout the interviews and even admits to messing with the social worker. Indeed, the teenager explains that she started eating a bowl of cereal during her CPS interview, informing the social worker it was her 'first meal' of the day - despite the interview taking place at 2 pm.
