Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed that Chris Rock asked her out during her separation from Will Smith - which probably rubbed salt in the wound.
For anyone who might have missed one of the biggest moments in the history of the Oscars, let me fill you in really quickly.
On March 27, 2022, Chris was hosting the awards ceremony and as usually happens, he began making jokes about people in the audience.
But when he referred to Jada as "GI Jane", he struck a nerve with Will, who marched up on stage and slapped him across the face.
This is the moment Will Smith slapped Chris Rock:Most of us believed it to be a joke until it got very awkward when the Fresh Prince actor started yelling from his seat.
Jada recently sat down with People where she discussed her new book, and she also revealed that she believed the slap to be a joke until she saw her husband's face when he sat back down.
She also revealed that she and Will have been secretly separated for seven years... and apparently, Chris saw this as his time to strike.
Speaking to the outlet, Jada said: "I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce. So he called me and basically he was like, 'I'd love to take you out.' And I was like, 'What do you mean?'"
She went on: "He was like, 'Well, aren't you and Will getting a divorce?' I was like, 'No. Chris, those are just rumors.' He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that."
It's hard to imagine a world where Will is okay with the man that he slapped in front of the entire planet asking his wife out on a date.
According to Jada, her separation from Will began in 2016, implying that during the notorious 2022 Oscars incident when Will confronted the comedian over a joke about Jada's shaved head, the couple was living apart.
Addressing the incident, Jada stated: "We've been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like."
Acknowledging her support system, Jada praised her children, saying: "My children, they're little gurus. They've taught me a deep sense of self-acceptance. They love every part of me."
As part of her ongoing book publicity tour, Jada has been opening up about various personal challenges.
In one notable excerpt, she reveals her struggles with "depression" and "despair," which began around her 40th birthday.
Despite the glamour and glitz associated with her public life, Jada confessed: "I'd fallen into despair and wanted to be on this earth less and less."
Jada's book, titled Worthy, is available to purchase right now.
