Actress Jenna Dewan has lit up social media this week, after posting a post-partum picture showing off her abs. But the post wasn't just made to promote a lifestyle of diet, exercise, and healthy living. No: Dewan actually uploaded the post for different reason altogether.
Dewan shared this risque footage of herself back when she was still pregnant:Taking to her official Instagram account, 39-year-old Dewan shared an image of herself with her 6.2 million followers, which showed her in her underwear, displaying her toned physique for the camera.
However, the caption was arguably even more important than the snap itself. Dewan wrote:
"A lot of people asking me about my post partum diet and exercise plan and I’m here to tell you it’s to make sure you’re registered to vote, vote early, and to vote like your life depends on it because it does. [sic]"
Dewan first announced that she was pregnant with the child of fellow-actor Steve Kazee back in September of 2019, writing in a statement made to People magazine: "We are beyond overjoyed and couldn’t be happier to be expanding our family!" She later gave birth to a baby boy named Callum in March, 2020.
Jenna's post seems to be following a trend kickstarted by actress Zoe Kravitz, who shared a makeup-free selfie with her 6 million followers, which was actually a firm political statement. The post was captioned:
"a lot of you have been asking me about my skin care routine: i start by voting as early as possible for #joebiden and #kamalaharris and all the other democratic candidates. then try some eye cream if you haven't been sleeping well because the president is a racist. [sic]"
Pop icon Katy Perry also appears to have also jumped on the election post bandwagon, after she shared a video of herself breast-pumping on Instagram to encourage her followers to vote.
The video shows Perry, who recently gave birth to a baby girl, sitting on a chair facing away from the camera, wearing pajama bottoms, a dressing gown around her waist, and a nude bandeau top.
Perry then turns to the camera to show us that she is using a breast pump, and urges Americans to "get pumped" about registering to vote.

"GET PUMPED TO VOTE!!! Okay so @orlandobloom and I have different views on what it means to get pumped these days but whoever said pumping isn’t a sport... I’d like to twist their nipples clockwise for one week straight. [sic]"
She added:
"ANYWAY I am going to exercise my right to vote!!!! Especially if @JaneFonda says I should. We’re getting in shape for the race of our lives this November and it has never been more important to #ExerciseThatVote. [sic]"
