When it comes to fashion, women have far more options than men, with access to dresses in a wide variety of colors and styles. But on the downside, these slinky gowns are often impractically designed, and there is the risk of a dreaded "wardrobe malfunction."
A wardrobe malfunction is always embarrassing. When the fabric slips out of position, it exposes an intimate part of your body. And if you're a celebrity, the humiliation is even worse, since cameras will capture the moment for posterity and broadcast it to the world.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, actress Jenna Fischer suffered a wardrobe malfunction, and dealt with it in the best way possible. The Office star walked out to greet Jimmy wearing a white towel, jeans and heels, while carrying her burgundy dress on a hanger. "This was my outfit for tonight,” Fischer explained, gesturing to the dress. "I waited a little too long to get dressed and then my zipper broke and I panicked."
Rather than cancel her appearance, Fischer decided to improvise, making the best of an awkward situation. She would have slayed in the gown, but she also slays in a towel and jeans. You never see actresses walk out wearing that outfit on talk shows. "“You know, I am a Missouri girl and the show must go on," said Fischer. "I've never been more comfortable. I am mentally a little freaking out that I’m on a talk show in a towel, but I am physically very comfortable."
I'm a little confused why Fischer opted for the towel, though. I mean, when she arrived at the studio, she must have been wearing a shirt, right? Did she hate the top, or spill coffee on it? Was she wearing a shirt with a corporate logo or an offensive quote that couldn't be allowed on television? Most likely, wearing the towel was a theatrical way to poke fun at the clothing snafu. In any event, her innovative outfit made the interview more interesting.
Fischer was promoting her new sitcom, Splitting Up Together, in which a couple gets divorced but continues to live together in the same house. But of course, we know her best as Pam Beasley on The Office. Recently John Krasinski told IndieWire that he'd love for The Office to return for a Christmas special, checking in with all of the characters to see what they're doing now. "I think the idea of an Office revival is a great idea," Fischer told The Hollywood Reporter. "I would be honored to come back in any way that I am able to. I loved playing that character."
Well, maybe next year there will be an Office Christmas special, and Fischer can appear on Kimmel to promote it, wearing an even more glamorous white towel.
