Earlier this month, we found out that Jennifer Lawrence was getting engaged to a new boyfriend. Last year, she split from director Darren Aronofsky after a year of dating, but this new partner is in the public eye far less than her previous Hollywood partners.

It was only earlier this year that the 28-year-old actress was spotted out on a date with Cooke Maroney, and when a ring was spotted on her finger, speculation ran amok. At the time, a source told Page Six that they had seen them together at a French restaurant named Raoul's. They said:

"It was a giant rock. They seemed like they were celebrating and people were talking about it. The ring was very noticeable. They were sitting back in a corner."

In January, Us Weekly heard that the couple were "very serious" and "definitely appear to be in it for the long haul," but not much was confirmed at the time. Maroney, 34, is a director at the Gladstone Gallery in New York City, according to Page Six.

It's believed they started dating as far back as June 2018, when they were photographed together at various points, after reportedly being set up by mutual friend, Laura Simpson.

The couple are fairly private are rarely seen out in public together, so nothing was confirmed for a long time. However, a spokesperson confirmed to E! News at the start of this month that they were officially engaged.

Now, she's wearing it more freely, being seen at Dior's Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday wearing the glamorous ring.

There's no official word on who exactly designed the ring, but there have been some estimations about how much it could cost. Gemologist Grant Mobley has estimated that the ring could cost as much as $200,000, but gave a slightly higher carat count. He told Elle:

"The ring appears to be around a 4 to 5 carat emerald cut diamond and set in a classic platinum four prong solitaire mounting with a petit band. The beauty of a classic mounting like this is that the center diamond is the main focus and can get all of the attention.

"Because there are no other stones or embellishments on the ring at all, you can tell that the natural center diamond was the most important part of this ring for the couple. A natural center diamond of that quality and size would be close to $200,000, and because large, natural diamonds are growing increasingly rare, this ring will definitely retain its value over time."

Lawrence's new partner marks a change from the Hollywood-associated boyfriends she'd had in the past, including Aronofsky and her X-Men co-star Nicholas Hoult. In a previous interview she has said that she has still remained close friends with her exes.

"All my boyfriends have been wonderful. Nick [Hoult] was a great boyfriend.

"Every time I go through a breakup, it's not like my heart isn't broken. They just never did anything to like, devastate me. They were just good people. Maybe that's also the secret. I'm attracted to good people."
