Justin Timberlake is finally addressing the photos which emerged of him holding hands with co-star Alisha Wainwright last month. For those who aren't aware, the 38-year-old performer and 30-year-old Wainwright were spotted holding hands at a bar in New Orleans in photos obtained by The Sun.

The photos also showed how Wainright, who starred alongside the singer and occasional actor in the movie Palmer, had placed her hand on Timberlake's knee.

The Can't Stop The Feeling! singer, who is married to actress Jessica Biel, took to Instagram on Wednesday, writing:

“I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family, I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love. A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment -- but let me be clear -- nothing happened between me and my co-star. I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that. I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it."

However, according to a source for US Weekly, the situation was all very innocent. The source told the publication that Timberlake and Wainwright were part of a gathering of people at Absinthe House and were all sat on a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street when the snaps were taken.

“Nothing remotely romantic is going on with Justin and Alisha," a source explained. "The whole cast is shooting out there and likes to hang out together. They were very much in public and nothing inappropriate was happening.”

A second source added: “They are like brother and sister. They are definitely not hooking up. She has been dating an actor who lives in L.A.”

Plus, in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Wainwright's rep said: “There is no validity to this speculation. They are working on a project together.”
