Actress Kate Beckinsale expertly shut down a troll who accused her of having a midlife crisis following a string of bikini pics.

Over the weekend, the 46-year-old actress posted a series of snaps from her trip to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico - many of which featured Beckinsale donning a bikini at the beach.

And while a lot of Beckinsale's followers praised her for the shots, one user threw shade at the Underworld actress in the comments of her most recent photo, writing "I feel like you are having a mid life crisis or something."

Never one to take things lying down, Beckinsale responded to the troll in the best possible way.

"Oh! I think that's because you're an annoying a**hole," she said.

Although the troll's comment received over 100 likes, Beckinsale's quip trumped his, garnering a staggering 700 likes from impressed fans who insisted the troll was "just jealous".

The troll then replied: "At least I have my pretty green eyes and my youth."

And in a response steeped in irony, Beckinsale wrote, "Yes darling, at least you have those xx"

Needless to say, plenty of the star's fans rushed to her defense.

"You tell him Kate," one user wrote, while another said, "Yes Kate, tell them off queen."

"Don't even listen, you're gorgeous," a user commented, with plenty of users agreeing. One told Beckinsale, "I wish I looked like this at my midlife existential crisis," and another simply wrote, "Midlife crisis never looked so good."
