No matter who you are, I'm sure you've fantasised about dating a celebrity at some point. Channing Tatum? Scarlett Johansson? Kate Beckinsale is probably also a popular choice, as is her current date, Pete Davidson, if his recent dating history is anything to go by.

Did you already know that the pair was dating? If not, you should probably watch more hockey. Anyway, fresh from breaking things off with Ariana Grande last year, Pete Davidson's found a new bae, and with there being a 20-year age gap between the two, some people have questioned the couple.

But now, Kate Beckinsale is answering probably the most obvious question people might have about dating Pete Davidson: what's it like to date Pete Davidson? As an SNL comedian, you can be sure that there are a few laughs to be had, but what's he like as a boyfriend?

Beckinsale wasn't just shouting this into the street for everyone to hear, however: she was speaking to the LA Times. In that interview, Beckinsale admitted she was a little bit like Marmite: "It's a yeast-based vegetable spread that you really, really like or you really, really don't."

"I’m OK with being Marmite. The people who like me really, really like me and would jump in front of trains for me. But if you don’t like me, I don’t care. It really doesn’t affect me... I found it incredibly relieving to go, 'Oh, this is what my actual sensibility is like.'

"And whether people respond positively or negatively to that, that is what it is. And that’s been a largely positive experience. If it became oppressive or upsetting, I would be very happy to let go of it. But so far, it’s been rather a nice thing. A lot of fun."

All the same, Pete Davidson is the type of person Beckinsale's not really dated before. "I’m surprised by the interest," she admitted in the interview.

"I’ve never been in this position before -- never dated anybody who comes with their own bag of mischief. It’s all quite shocking, and something to get used to. I think if you liked the person less, you would bow out of it. If that were the main thrust of the relationship, there would be a problem. But it’s not."

That being said, there's a sense that Beckinsale wishes that there wasn't as much furore over her relationships. "I’d rather not have people hiding outside my house," she said. "It’s a little old fashioned to have a woman’s personal life [in the spotlight like that]. It’s a little bit tired."

Recently, Kate Beckinsale had been making efforts to clap back to people who were saying less-than-complimentary things about her relationship with Davidson, such as David Spade, but has since deleted all posts off her Instagram page.

In the past, Beckinsale has also dated a young comedian before in Jack Whitehall, who is 15 years her junior.
