The actress, best known for her roles in Titanic (1997) and The Mountain Between Us (2017), recently posed topless for her new interview with Harper's Bazaar following the release of her latest project, Lee (2023).

During a candid interview, she also revealed an incident in which a crew member told her to "cover up [her] belly rolls" while she was filming for the WWII movie but she refused to be judged for her natural body.

Lee follows the story of Elizabeth 'Lee' Miller, a fashion model who became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue magazine during World War, which was adapted from the 1985 biography 'The Lives of Lee Miller' by Antony Penrose.

Winslet, who is now 48 years old, opened up about stopping exercising and refusing to do cosmetic work before she started filming for the movie, rejecting the idea that women are supposed to be clinging onto every ounce of their youth as they get older.

Instead, she wanted to appear "authentically soft."

"There’s a bit where Lee’s sitting on a bench in a bikini... And one of the crew came up between takes and said: 'You might want to sit up straighter,'" she recalled.

"So you can’t see my belly rolls? Not on your life! It was deliberate, you know?" she continued before going on to state that she doesn't mind looking imperfect on screen.

"I take pride in it because it is my life on my face, and that matters. It wouldn’t occur to me to cover that up," she added.

And on the topic of dabbling in cosmetic work? She didn't want it.

"I think people know better than to say, 'You might wanna do something about those wrinkles'," she told the interviewer. "I’m more comfortable in myself as each year passes. It enables me to allow the opinions of others to evaporate."

In a set of new photos for the outlet, the star was seen striking a pose in the sea in the nude while in other shots, Winslet modeled a gorgeous wool jacket by Prada, showing the world that women can do it all at any age.

Social media users took to X to applaud Winslet for her bravery after the story went viral.

"Thank you, Kate, for standing up against the pressure to conform! Your authenticity encourages so many of us to embrace our true selves," one user wrote, while another added: "Was it a man? Because it sounds like something a stupid man would say."

A third chimed in writing: "If Kate Winslet can embrace her belly rolls, then so can I."

Get it, girlie!

Elsewhere Winslet also opened up about the pressure she felt as a woman to fit into society's impossible beauty standards.

But that didn't stop the tabloids from hounding her about her body to the point where she developed an eating disorder.

"There was a lot of bullying of me that went on in the media, and that did get to me," she recalled. "Look at all those years in my twenties when I was all sorts of different shapes and sizes."

As she got older though, she refused to be caged by callous headlines and opinions.

"I do feel a huge sense of relief that women are so much more accepting of themselves and refusing to be judged," Winslet explained. "Because I don’t know a single contemporary of mine who grew up seeing her mother looking in the mirror and saying: 'I look nice!' My mother never did: it was always, oh God, I don’t think I can wear this, do I look hippy, does my bum look big?

"We waste so much time being down on ourselves and I’m just not doing it ever again," she added.

While the storyline for Lee seemingly received mixed reviews amongst audiences, many applauded Winslet's incredible performance in the movie.
