Last Valentine's Day, Katy Perry got engaged to Orlando Bloom after three years of dating. The couple first got together at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016. One year later, they separated, but just couldn't quit each other. In 2018, they reignited their romance, and we knew it was getting serious when Katy wore a onesie with Orlando's face on it. (Would you do that for your partner?)

Last night Katy appeared Jimmy Kimmel Live, wearing a golden Oscar-esque gown, and opened up about her relationship with Bubbadoo. (That's her bizarre nickname for Orlando. Seriously.) First she spilled the tea on how they got together at that Golden Globes party three years ago.

The Roar singer claimed Orlando stole an In-N-Out burger from her table. When she turned around to confront him, she paused, realizing he was "so hot." (Cue romantic and, slow motion soft-focus shot of Orlando Bloom.) The next time the stars ran into each other at a party, she quipped, "How are those onions resting on your molars?" Yeah. She said that. And after that steamy pick-up line, the rest is history.

As the interview continued, Katy revealed the shambolic way the Hollywood heartthrob proposed to her. "We went to dinner and I thought we were gonna go see some art after but we pulled up to a helicopter," she said. "We had champagne in the helicopter and the [ring] box was in [Orlando's] pocket. And he had written down everything he wanted on a note to divert [my attention]. He was going to pull it out while I'm reading it."

However, the plan didn't work as expected because the ring box was too big for Orlando's pocket. "He's pulling out this box that's too big for his coat pocket, and it rips his coat pocket and his elbow goes into the champagne." The bottle broke, spilling expensive booze "everywhere" in the helicopter, while Katy was reading the note. Not smooth, Legolas! What happened to that elf-like grace?

At that point, Katy said, "You clumsy idiot. We're done." Then she strapped on a parachute, and jumped out of the helicopter, yelling "The Hobbit movies suuuuuucked!" Just kidding. She did not say that or do that. The gaffe with the champagne didn't spoil the special moment. Katy said yes!

The couple embraced, and the helicopter landed on a rooftop in Los Angeles, where, to Katy's surprise, all of her family and friends had gathered for an engagement party. At this point, the Jimmy Kimmel audience said "awww," just like you, and the singer concluded, "He did so well." "Oh, wow, you landed on your family's house?" joked Jimmy.  "No," laughed Katy. "Just a building downtown."

Well, the plan didn't go perfectly, but sometimes when plans don't go perfectly, it makes for a better story, doesn't it?  Congratulations, Katy and Bubbadoo!
