Kendall Jenner has been accused of copying a tequila brand and charging double the price - despite using the same distillery in Mexico.
In February, the 25-year-old supermodel announced the launch of her tequila brand, 818, which just so happens to be the area code for Calabasas, California, where she grew up.
However, the brand has not been without its controversies, with many accusing the reality star of cultural appropriation. Now, though, Kendall has been hit with yet another accusation - this time that she copied the design and logo of a separate tequila brand.
What's more, both include a three-digit number in their brand names - Kendall's brand is, of course, called 818 and the competing brand is named Tequila 512.
In an Instagram post last week, Tequila 512 shared its grievances and noted the similarities between the two spirits.
The Austin-based brand also complained that 818 was being sold at a price tag of $44.99 whereas its own tequila - which launched in 2012 - is being sold for $26.99. This is despite the fact that the more affordable beverage is distilled more than Kendall's tequila.
Tequila 512 wrote: "You may have seen that @kendalljenner released a 'new' tequila today. Note the similarities, including the color, the name, and it is made at the same distillery in Tequila Mexico as ours.
"Their batches are being distilled twice. Ours three times. Yet she is charging twice as much per bottle. And here we are getting messages like the one in this post image. Doesn’t seem very cool. What do you think?"
Alongside the caption, the company posted images of the competing brands in order to draw comparisons between them. It also included a direct message from a Tequila 512 customer who asked the firm: "Is that you or did someone copy you?"
The CEO of Tequila 512, Nick Matzorkis, explained to KXAN that his company is not at all affiliated with Kendall's brand.
He told the publication: "To be clear the post does not accuse them of 'stealing our idea,' but does point out obvious undeniable similarities that in their entirety makes a worthy point on the face of it."
