Kim Kardashian shared an X-ray of her butt to prove people wrong about common rumor
Kim Kardashian once had an X-ray of her butt to put to rest a common rumor about her body.
The SKIMS mogul's famous curves have been the subject of public fascination, especially after her iconic 2014 "Break the Internet" cover shoot for Paper magazine.
But long before the reality star posed for photographer Jean-Paul Goude, she went to great lengths to shut down speculation about her body, even undergoing an X-ray of her butt to prove that she didn't have implants.
The unusual moment unfolded in the 2011 episode of the reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, when Kim visited a doctor after her sisters challenged her to settle the long-running rumors once and for all.
Kim Kardashian underwent an X-ray to prove she didn't have butt implants
During the episode, the family decided that Kourtney's should get an X-ray of her breasts so they could all "see what implants look like" on the scan.
The doctor then took an X-ray of Kim's buttocks and compared her results to Kourtney's scan
The result came as a relief to her, as she said: "I am so glad that I did this x-ray just for the fact that my sister's annoyed me and were picking on me just to get at me and the whole world doubting me."
"This x-ray is like the best thing I ever could have done," she added.
Kim's famous 'Break the Internet' photoshoot sparked a frenzy
Just three years after the episode, Kim's backside became the center of global attention when she appeared on the cover of Paper magazine's winter 2014 issue.
The shoot featured her posing nude with her oiled-up backside facing the camera as she smiled over her shoulder.
Another picture showed her sporting a black gown while balancing a champagne glass on her backside, recreating one of Goude's famous photographs.
The shoot, which carried the headline "Break the Internet," quickly went viral online and cemented its place as one of the most talked-about celebrity photoshoots.
Kim later revealed she had received injections in her buttocks
After years of denying that she had had her buttocks cosmetically enhanced, Kim finally revealed in 2016 that she had injections, although not for cosmetic enhancement.
"I went to go get a cortisone shot in my butt," she said at the time, per The Sun. "I lived right behind Kitson [the boutique in Los Angeles]. One of my neighbours was a dermatologist at Cedars."
"I go in there and he’s like, 'There’s a one in a billion chance that you will get a huge indent in your butt.' Of course I get a huge indent on my butt."
The now-mom-of-four continued: "There is a picture of me in Miami wearing an electric blue dress, and another picture of me walking down Robertson. You see the indent. And I think that’s when the rumours started, 'She’s had implants.'"
Since those early reality TV moments, Kim's has undergone significant changes, including her highly publicized divorce from rapper Kanye West and her efforts to pursue a career in law.
In the November 2025 episode of the family's show, The Kardashians, the business mogul experienced another unexpected medical moment when she was told that she had "low brain activity".
The findings were presented by Dr. Daniel Amen, who interpreted the scan as showing reduced activity in parts of her frontal lobes.
"That just can't be," she reacted, struggling to accept what she was being told.
The doctor explained that she was "not terribly stressed, not anxious, and not depressed," although he suggested that there might be some stress as the cause for the low brain activity.
