Kim Kardashian reveals she's failed the Bar exam: 'Not a lawyer yet'

Kim Kardashian has shared an update on her ongoing quest to become a qualified lawyer, revealing it hasn't quite happened for her yet.

The reality star, 45, has spent years working towards her dream of following in her late father Robert Kardashian's footsteps by earning a law qualification.

The mom-of-four has been completing her studies alongside various other commitments, including filming for her new series All's Fair, as well as running several businesses, including her shapewear line Skims.

Kim had been awaiting the results of the California State Bar exam which were released to applicants at 5PM local time on Friday.

However, it wasn't to be for her this time around as she revealed she didn't manage to pass the test, but came "close" to doing so.

She told her followers: "Well… I’m not a lawyer yet. I just play a very well-dressed one on TV.

"Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination."

Kim added: "Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far.

"Falling short isn’t a failure — It’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivates me even more. Let’s Go!!!!!"

Kim had first revealed her intention to become a lawyer in 2019, and took the baby bar exam three times before finally passing it in December 2021. She obtained her law degree in May 2025 and is still working to pass the bar exam.

The official California bar is not an easy test to pass, as it takes place over two days where applicants must answer five one-hour essay questions, one 90-minute performance test, and 200 multiple-choice questions.

It is considered one of the hardest bar exams to pass in the nation, with the July 2024 test only having had a pass rate of 53.8%, per TMZ.

It comes after she confessed she sometimes uses ChatGPT to answer legal questions for her, explaining while using Vanity Fair's lie detector test: "I use it for legal advice, so when I need to know the answer to a question, I'll take a picture and snap it and put it in there."

However, she revealed that that tactic has seriously backfired for her, explaining: "It has made me fail tests ... all the time, and then I'll get mad and I'll yell at it."

She joked that the platform needs to do better as she is "leaning to them to really help me."

If anyone has the tenacity to pass the bar, it's Kim.
