Lady Gaga's dog walker was reportedly "shot in the chest" before two men stole her French bulldogs in Hollywood.

The incident took place on Wednesday (February 24) at night when Ryan Fischer, 30, was ambushed by the men outside his home on Sierra Bonita Avenue at around 10pm.

Two of the Pokerface singer's dogs, Koji and Gustavo, were stolen, but the remaining pup, Miss Asia, managed to escape the attackers.

Police were alerted to gunshots in the area and arrived to find Fischer seriously injured, but conscious and able to communicate.

He was subsequently taken to hospital where is "recovering well", according to the Daily Mail.

The news outlet reports that it is not known if the attackers knew that the dogs belonged to Lady Gaga, but French bulldogs are currently in high demand, selling for between $1,500 and $3,000.

Pedigrees can fetch as much as $10,000.

TMZ reported that Lady Gaga is distraught over the incident and is offering a $500,000 reward for the return of Koji and Gustavo "no questions asked".

Fischer had been taking care of the dogs while Lady Gaga was filming a new movie in Italy.

As Fischer recovers in hospital, Miss Asia has been taken to LAPD's Hollywood headquarters where she has since been subsequently collected by one of the singer's bodyguards.

The LAPD confirmed the shooting and said two dogs were stolen in a statement to the Daily Mail, however, they said that they did not know if the incident "was a robbery" as gang violence and homelessness have not been ruled out by investigators.

The suspects are believed to be two black men wearing baseball caps.

Police said that they fled the scene in a white van - a BMW or possibly a Nissan - northbound on Sierra Bonita Avenue and remain at large.

According to TMZ, anyone with information that could lead to the safe return of the dogs is to email [email protected] to retrieve the reward.

Lady Gaga is in Rome filming Ridley Scott's new movie Gucci, in which she plays Maurizio Gucci's ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani.
