Having millions of followers who turn up to find out what you're doing next in your career is a blessing in many ways, but it also comes with its fair share of negatives.
For celebs using the likes of Instagram and Twitter to promote their work or simply share what they're doing that day, there's a lot of validation to be had from their passionate fans, yet with that comes those who are needlessly critical.
Earlier this week, Lena Headey put out a video to her Instagram page in which she spoke about an upcoming project. While the actress is going to be starring in one of the biggest television moments in history next month, when the final season of Game of Thrones premieres, she also has plenty of other things on the way - including her latest movie, Fighting with My Family.
The film stars Headey alongside Nick Frost, Vince Vaughn and Stephen Merchant, in the true story of WWE star Paige, who grew up in a household of professional wrestlers. The film, which premiered at the Sundane Film Festival last month, is set to be released on February 14 in the US, and so she's out there convincing people to go out and see it. On Instagram this Tuesday, she implored her followers to catch it, sending out a selfie video in which she wore no makeup - which some people had a problem with.
Some users focused less on the content of the video and more on than the fact she was makeup-free. "Don't record yourself without makeup again," one wrote, while another added, "shame". However, there were other fans who were a little more positive, showing their support for her in the wake of these negative responses.
"It's so funny, because you're totally known to be not only one of the most goreous women on television, but also for playing such an independent and powerful character," one commenter wrote. "Certainly light years away from someone that would get her feelings hurt by someone being a rude little turd. Love you."
Following the critical comments, the actress showed that she - much like her Game of Thrones character - doesn't give too much thought to what her haters think of her or how she presents herself. Sharing a screengrab of some of the comments, along with the caption: "I shall continue to not wear make up. Go f*** your self".
"Yes Lena. You already know to let them go f*** themselves," one fan said in response to this image. "You're amazing and your fans love you." Other fans reassured her that these kind of people are to be ignored, telling her "Don't mind them. You do you girl!" and "I love your gorgeous face! With or without makeup!"
Other than this week's release, Headey will next be seen in Game of Thrones' eighth season, which is set to air on April 14th.
