Mark Wahlberg has taken to social media to show off the weight he's gained for an upcoming role.
In a post shared with his 16.3 million followers on Instagram, the 49-year-old Ted actor shared two side-by-side images of himself that show his dramatic body transformation.
The first picture shows Wahlberg looking toned and muscular, while the second shows him lying down as he sports a larger frame.

According to Yahoo News, Whalberg revealed in a video two days prior that he has gained 20lbs for the role.
It wasn't long before Wahlberg's post quickly picked up a lot of attention from fans; racking up over 808,000 reactions and a further 9,700 comments as of the time of writing.

In fact, a number of followers found themselves relating to Wahlberg more than ever as the actor's new appearance reflects more than a year of COVID lockdowns.
Fans rushed to the comments section of the point, as one wrote: "Damn this is literally me after a year of covid. [sic]"

Another person agreed, writing: "Welcome to how the rest of us look post quarantine. [sic]"

A number of other people seemed to prefer Wahlberg's new physique, with one writing: "You look happier with a belly. Lol. [sic]"

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in: "How does it feel to have a dad bod?"

Another fan joked: "When [you're] single vs when [you're] married."

Other Wahlberg fans seemed more intrigued by what sparked such a drastic difference in the actor's weight, as one fan wrote: "Wow, can't wait to see what role this is for."

Another added: "Wow kid that's dedication to your job. Looking [forward' to seeing this on the screen."

However, those closest to the star were the most supportive of his brand new look. Saved by the Bell actor Mario Lopez wrote: "Yo. You wear mad chubby well homie! [sic]"

Wahlberg's wife, 42-year-old model Rhea Durham, added: "And it looks just as hot in person baby. [sic]"
The actor is currently preparing for his role in the upcoming Rosalind Ross' faith-based drama movie, Stu, in which Wahlberg will be playing a boxer-turned-priest.
