In a new interview with Joe Rogan, recorded for his immensely popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, Miley Cyrus opened up on her divorce from Hollywood actor Liam Hemsworth.

The 27-year-old Midnight Sky singer described the challenges of going through the divorce in such a public manner, noting that it was not just the divorce itself that she had to contend with, but also the vilification of her actions afterwards.

“I recently went through a very public divorce that f***ing sucked,” she told Rogan.

“What really sucked about it wasn’t the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don’t love each other the way that we used to anymore. That’s OK, I can accept that. I can’t accept the villainising, and just all those stories.” She went on, per news.com.au.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split was announced in 2019. Cyrus was subsequently spotted with Kaitlynn Carter. The pair had a short relationship before Cyrus began dating Australian singer Cody Simpson, from whom she recently split.

“It’s amazing to me the public thinks that there’s no gap of time that they didn’t see that could possibly be what led to this,” the singer said. “It’s not, ‘One day you were happy on the carpet and the next day you were making out with your friend in Italy, what the f**k?’ There’s a lot of time in between that you didn’t see,” she explained.

In a separate interview, with Barstool Sports' Call Her Daddy podcast, Miley Cyrus likened her divorce from Liam Hemsworth to a death.

“I had a very public, very big breakup that was a 10-year span of a relationship,” she said, "I tried not to get lost in the emotion.…It’s like a death when you lose a loved one, it’s that deep. It feels like a death."

Per news.com.au, Miley also told Rogan of her relationships:

“I think men in my life have told me I’m cold, I’m a cold f***ing b*tch, because I leave when things are done,” she said.

“I’m into a lot of freaky things, but I don’t f**k dead guys and when it’s over, you’re dead to me and I move on.

“I don’t need a man or a woman that’s gonna take care of me. I can take care of me. I need them to be able to take care of them. I don’t need to be in a relationship at all.”
