I think we all need to go into 2022 with the same attitude Miley Cyrus had during her New Year's Eve performance.
The 29-year-old chart-topper performed an incredible set during last night's special NBC telecast to ring in the new year, including her 2009 banger 'Party in the USA'.
However, part-way through the performance, Cyrus suffered a wardrobe malfunction when her silver top appeared to break and start to fall from her torso. At first, Miley attempted to continue singing the hit in front of the live audience while clutching the top to her chest - but then decided that stronger measures needed to be taken.
Cyrus then turned her back to the crowd and walked off stage, only to return moments later wearing an oversized red blazer. "Everyone’s definitely looking at me now," she joked while continuing to sing the iconic track.
She then quipped: "I’m still in the most clothes that I’ve ever worn on stage."
And all this happened just minutes into 2022 - a great omen for the year ahead.
However, viewers were quick to praise Cyrus for how she dealt with the issue - which I'm sure would have been mortifying for the rest of us.
One Twitter user wrote: "May we all go into 2022 with the same poise, quick-wit, & “eh, s**t happens” attitude as Miley Cyrus after that wardrobe malfunction. That ABSOLUTE CHAMP caught her top, sashayed offstage, came back on asap to finish her set—AND *owned* it all with a couple of jokes. What a pro!"
Another viewer gushed: "@MileyCyrus’s TOP!!! She’s such a pro."
A third praised Miley's entire performance, writing: "Not usually one for NYE shows, but I have to give props to Miley Cyrus. Beats the hell out of Ryan Seacrest. Miley is a natural performer, and her backing band is ace.
"Oh, and she played off the wardrobe malfunction like a pro."
Following her performance, Miley told the live crowd and viewers at home: "Tonight's show was all about being flexible. Rolling with the punches and making the best out of even the worst circumstances. And that resilience shouldn't end here.
"Let's bring that into the new year with us. We've all learned how to expect the unexpected."
But Miley wasn't done starting the new year by stealing our hearts, as she took to Twitter following the show to share a series of stunning photos showing yet another outfit she wore to celebrate 2022:
