Robert Irwin has taken to Instagram to share two pictures of himself with actor, Robert Downey Jr., shot 16-years apart.

The son of the late "crocodile hunter" Steve Irwin shared a recent snap of himself alongside Iron Man himself, as well as one taken years ago when he was just a baby.

The older picture, which is just adorable, shows Irwin being cradled by his father, Steve, while Downey Jr. as his son pose with a giant snake wrapped around their necks.

Watch as Robert holds back tears as he speaks about the impact the Australian bushfires are having on animals:

"The first time I met @robertdowneyjr was when I was just a few months old when he and his family visited @australiazoo - it was awesome getting to catch up again to chat all things #Dolittle," Robert captioned the picture.

"One of the kindest people you'll meet, and an incredible advocate for our environment! (Keep an eye out for Robert and I on Australia's @thetodayshow this Wednesday)."

Of course, the snaps were a hit with the 16-year-old's fans, and they quickly garnered over 250,000 likes in 12 hours.

"You're the real life version of the character," wrote one Instagram user, while another corroborated "Two legends in one pic."

"Omg I love you both so much! You are great people and influencers," added a third.

Earlier this week, a clearly emotional Robert held back tears while appearing on television to discuss the disastrous bushfires in Australia, and the impact they have had on the country and its native species.

"It's definitely an ongoing issue and we're just trying to do our best to help in any way we can," he said while speaking on Sunrise, alongside his mother, Terri. "But it's a pretty tough situation. We're absolutely heartbroken."
